Mayor Daniel Pearl along with Deputy Mayor Tina Schiaffino and Trustees Dana Durso and Todd Svec congratulated Matthew Hepworth of Boy Scout Troop 776. Matthew’s Eagle Scout Service Project involved fundraising and building Bird Houses that will be installed in our village parks. The rank of Eagle Scout is the Boy Scouts of America's highest honor and is achieved by less than 3% of Boy Scouts nationwide. The Village has always partnered with the American Legion Post #1066 and Sgt. Peter F. Colleran Post #7762, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) for the annual Memorial Day Parade and service in the Massapequas. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the current guidance from the Governor’s office and Nassau County does not permit in-person parades. The American Legion and the VFW in a joint decision have decided to change the usual parade route and replace it with a Memorial Day Car par...ade that will pay respect to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our Nation. The Parade will start in Parking Field #1 at the rear entrance of the Sgt. Peter F. Colleran VFW Post #7762 and will pass by each of the Memorials in the Massapequas and end at the parking lot for the American Legion Post #1066. We ask that if you wish to pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice you can watch the procession along Park Blvd from Front Street, north to Arthur St. starting at 10:00 AM.

As a member of our community you can help prevent the spread of COVID-19: Stay home if you are sick, wash your hands, physical distancing from those outside your household and wearing masks in public places. These preventative measures can help limit the spread of the virus. With your help we can get through this.
