The holiday festivities were in full swing today as Mrs. Claus drove Santa’s sleigh down the hallways to visit residents, distribute gifts and spread good cheer. With grateful appreciation for the generous donations from McHarrie Life staff, volunteers, auxiliary, St. Mary’s Church, and Old Navy, over 100 residents received gifts in celebration of Christmas. Thank you to everyone who made this a special day for our residents, especially our Activities Department. Happy Holidays!

Santa made a special visit to McHarrie Life this week! Residents had a chance to wave to him from the warmth and comfort of their homes, while others ventured outdoors to enjoy his magical visit!

Happy 102nd Birthday to Syracuse Home resident Shirley Kay as she celebrated another milestone year as a centenarian! She enjoyed her virtual "birthday party" with her family on Zoom! It was a wonderful way to bring everyone together to celebrate her special day!

A little holiday cheer began today! Congratulations to the first five winners of the Inspire Thanksgiving Puzzle Raffle-- Gabe Chrestler, Tanya DeSalvatore, Jessica Kessler, Susan Quick, and Deb Walker. As part of the Inspire Employee Wellness Program, nearly 80 staff members participated in the challenge this month, which automatically entered them in free raffle drawings--just in time for the holidays! Inspire is an employee-led volunteer effort to promote wellness in the workplace through creative, fun, and innovative activities and events to encourage our staff's physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The next drawing is Monday, November 23rd!

Our annual Halloween Wars votes are tallied! Congratulations to Unit #2 for winning Halloween Wars 2020! We would also like to congratulate Terry May and Viola Schlereth for winning first place in Halloween Wars at McHarrie Towne! This event is a wonderful celebration for residents and staff to enjoy each year! Happy Halloween!

Event-filled days are the happiest of days for our residents. Now more than ever before, our daily activities program plays a vital role in providing meaningful opportunities, projects, and events for our residents. McHarrie Pointe residents celebrated Polish Day by baking traditional Polish cakes, enjoying a delicious Polish-themed luncheon, and spending the afternoon participating in cultural activities. As we continue to navigate these unprecedented times, rest assured that our staff is steadfast in their commitment to treating our residents like family.

It was the perfect day for McHarrie Pointe residents to hand paint pumpkins in celebration of Halloween month!

McHarrie Pointe is bustling with fall activities this month! Residents enjoyed Harvest Fest and Oktoberfest luncheons with coordinating activities along with a Zoom art lesson from The Painting Cafe!

In celebration of National Assisted Living Week, residents of McHarrie Pointe enjoyed preparing and sampling a variety of food and drinks from different countries including; Italy, Spain, Germany, Ireland and America. They also attended a live outdoor window concert. This year’s theme was, Caring is Essential. It highlighted the excellent care provided by our essential caregivers and the deep connection they have with our residents.

In celebration of NY State Fair Week, it comes as no surprise that Pizze Fritte day was a BIG hit among our residents today!

Let the games begin! It's New York State Fair Week at McHarrie Life!

Preparations are underway to bring the New York State Fair to McHarrie Life! Residents will enjoy popular State Fair food like deep fried Oreos, homemade fudge, corn dogs, popcorn and cotton candy. They will also play games, win prizes, and enjoy entertainment all week long! The staff is busy organizing this much-needed and loved event! The festivities begin this afternoon!

Aloha! Residents of McHarrie Pointe enjoyed a Luau party, including a Hawaiian-themed luncheon, drinks, ice cream, music, dancing, and photos. It was a fantastic afternoon of entertainment and festivities for all!

It was a beautiful day for a wedding! Proud father of the bride, Rick DeGone, attended his daughter, Sara’s marriage to Neal Turo on July 18th. The activities staff and family worked together to organize the nuptials at Syracuse Home so Rick could take part in this special day.

It was Christmas in July at McHarrie Towne today! Residents enjoyed live entertainment by the Downbeat Percussion Band and delicious food catered by Limp Lizard and delivered door-to-door by staff. It was a safe, wonderful way for everyone to get outdoors, wave to their neighbors and listen to some upbeat music. The band also played for Syracuse Home and McHarrie Pointe residents as they marched throughout the campus. A very BIG thank you to the entire McHarrie Towne staff for organizing this festive event for all to enjoy!
