Tuesday Morning at approximately 1018 the Medford Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Old Medford Avenue and the South Service road of the Long Island Expressway. The incident involved a heavy duty tow truck and a pickup truck. The strength of the impact caused both saddle tanks on the big rig to rupture, spilling approximately 80 Gallons of diesel across the roadway and adjoining yard. - With the assistance of the Town of Brookhaven ...Fire Marshals Office, Department of Environmental Conservation Spill Response Team, along with the SCPD Emergency Service Unit the environmental impact was mitigated swiftly. - The incident is under investigation by the Suffolk County Police Dept. We join our brothers and sisters in blue in mourning the tragic loss of NYPD Officer Anastasios Tsakos, assigned to Highway 3. He was a 14-year veteran of the NYPD and a dad of two young children, a 6-year-old daughter and a 3-year-old son. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
That concludes our recruitment day. Thank you to the volunteers who took time out of their day for this event. Also special thanks to Vice President of FASNY Eugine Perry for stopping by.
Here is a video with Chief Barry, Lieutenant Thomas Donofrio and firefighter Cole working on the two minute drill. This is a basic drill to ensure the efficiency of donning your personal protective equipment (or PPE) when responding.
If you stop by and meet our volunteers, you’ll see that they all come from different backgrounds. It does not matter if you work nights, days, in an office or with your hands or even a student. A volunteer can be anyone. Inquire today!

Hello all! Today is the day! Santa will be riding around on the fire truck today, tomorrow and Friday. Here are a few things to keep in mind. - There is no particular schedule. Please listen for the sirens as your indicator that he is nearby. - There will be no candy canes this year and we ask that everyone remains socially distant. ... - Be kind. Santa works with local volunteers who take time each night to show him around town. Should you miss him, please be understanding. Thank you and see you later!
Christmas tree sales will be cancelled fro today due to the weather. Please visit us tomorrow or any evening during the week.
