We provided MEP design for the new $99M, 92,000 SF, 6 story pavilion tower at St. Peter's Health Partners, Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY. Significant projects included a new 34.5 MV electrical service, a new 1.8 MW Generation Plant, expansion of the chilled water plant, extension of existing steam lines to a new Pavilion Tower, and CFD wind wake analysis to insure no entrainment of stack exhausts or HVAC exhaust would affect any existing or new HVAC system outside air intakes. http://ow.ly/2ZYt50EV4uL #healthcaredesign #MEPengineering #mechanicalengineering

The LEED Gold Certified Binghamton University Energy R+D Building is one of the key pillars to the NY SUNY 2020 Challenge Grant Plan. The $47M, 115,00SF building houses flexible chemistry, physics and optics labs to promote fuel research, teaching and entrepreneurial activity in the energy related disciplines at Binghamton University. Energy Modeling was performed alongside and throughout design for an integrated and holistic approach to maximize energy savings. In addition, interior CFD modeling was used to optimize the HVAC design and lab safety. #sustainability #MEPengineering #mechanicalengineering Read more about our Sustainability Services here: http://ow.ly/RZQa50ESIha http://ow.ly/oRZL50ESIh9

We provided the MEP/FP design for the LEED Gold Certified, 200,000 SF, five-story Dineen Hall at Syracuse University's College of Law. The design of the building and its systems support and enable the facility to be part of Syracuse University’s goal of having a carbon neutral campus by 2040. M/E performed integrated modeling to parallel design and optimize energy efficiency. The building utilizes primarily LED lighting, demand controlled ventilation, various system control... strategies, and includes an abundance of metering to allow for continuous measurement and verification of the building's operation. The facility is connected to the campus central plant but also contains supplemental HVAC equipment to ensure that conditions will be maintained during shoulder seasons. For over 20 years, M/E Engineering has been an integral part of Cornell University's Energy Conservation Initiative. Read the story here: http://ow.ly/qEhy50EGgnB. Stocking Hall is a LEED Gold certified food science facility which houses state-of-the-art lab spaces, a dairy plant, and office/support spaces. The energy cost for the building was reduced by 46% over the ASHRAE baseline and installed plumbing fixtures reduced water usage by 31% below the baseline usage. #sustainability #MEPengineering #mechanicalengineering https://www.meengineering.com/

Warren Hall, on the Cornell University campus, was the first to achieve a LEED Platinum certification from a retrofit and rehabilitation project. http://ow.ly/dmK950ECrWP The renovation modernized the 100 year-old structure with zero increase in energy usage. Extensive daylight penetration and unique ventilation strategies were implemented to help reduce utility consumption. #sustainability #mepengineering #mechanicalengineering https://lnkd.in/eC2sh22

M/E Engineering's healthcare team completed a High Pressure Steam Boiler Replacement at Buffalo General Medical Campus for Kaleida Health. The Boiler Plant provides heating and process steam for Buffalo General Hospital, Oishei Children's Hospital, Gates Vascular Institute University at Buffalo. The new boiler approximately doubled the capacity of the existing boiler within a similar footprint, while improving efficiency, redundancy, reliability and emissions. M/E performed a computational fluid dynamic (CFD) model for HOLT Architects for their Ithaca, New York office. As with many firms, HOLT was planning to have their employees return to the office and were concerned with their personal safety. The leadership wanted to evaluate the impact a person having Covid-19 would have on others in the same space. This study took into account the building HVAC system, furniture layout, air flows and office configuration. Two scenarios were p...resented - one with a person not wearing a mask and one with the same person with a mask. See the link in the article to see the results. M/E Engineering can perform a similar study for your facility using your particular criteria as a tool for office re-entry policies. Please note, while these tools provide great insight into how airborne pathogens can spread, any implementations performed based on these evaluations will in no way eliminate the potential for exposure to these airborne pathogens. #covid19 #covid19response #CFDmodel https://www.ithaca.com//article_841ea3a4-dc29-11ea-9fa4-bf

Emergency Preparedness Planning, in light of the current global pandemic and the tremendous efforts in managing the spread of COVID-19, is at the forefront of M/E Engineering. We have been closely following infectious aerosols guidance from ASHRAE and ASHE in order to gain a strong understanding of the issues and potential impact of changes to building operations to reduce airborne exposures for our clients.
