Avionics Corrosion: Moisture Is The Enemy The Aviation Consumer https://tinyurl.com/3d6utmcp Temperature differentials, improper storage and ram air cooling can corrode expensive avionics, according to The Aviation Consumer. When a hangar foam fire suppression system inadvertently discharges, the results can be damaging or even deadly.... Other unintended consequences produced by foam fire suppression system discharge include: Damage to aircraft. While the foam can prevent the aircraft from being destroyed by fire, it can damage sensitive systems in the process, requiring expensive repairs or replacement of components. Damage to other equipment. Other assets in the hangar including vehicles, tools and support equipment can be damaged by fire suppression foam. Loss of business. From missed flights and costs associated with arranging for substitute aircraft in place of damaged aircraft, to harm to an operator’s reputation, an accidental foam discharge can negatively impact operations in many ways. Environmental risks. If foam escapes containment within the hangar, environmental contamination can occur and the consequences can be far-reaching. A number of recent accidental foaming discharges have occurred or were reported in the past 18 months: A foam discharge event in a large hangar in Europe involving several VIP airliner aircraft caused tens of millions of dollars in aircraft damage. An FBO in the Midwestern U.S. had 15 aircraft in a hangar in which a pinhole in a fire system tank caused a discharge resulting in $2 million USD in damage. An Airbus hangar in the Southern U.S. had two A220s under construction and the extent of the damage is unknown. A prominent FBO in Florida experienced a foam discharge involving a Gulfstream G650 and Bombardier Global Express among several aircraft being submerged in foam. Here at Sky Harbour, we take pride in our ability to protect your premier assets with a temperature and moisture controlled environment and the use of a Wet Sprinkler (NO FOAM) fire protection, sealed hangar with humidity control and sterile maintenance environment. We continue to support the growth of our industry by looking ahead to new structures and technology, while keeping our clients and customers safe and healthy. And, we are doing our part to keep you informed of the latest updates in aviation news. https://skyharbour.group/about/ Millie Hernandez-Becker Sky Harbour Group 767 Fifth Ave New York, NY 10153 [email protected] 212-554-5990 https://lnkd.in/drhXify #businessaviation #privateaviation #privatejets #privatejetcharter #businessjets #corporatejets #corporateaviation #airport #airporthanger #privateairporthanger #houston #houstonbusiness #houstonbusinessowners #safetravel #internationaltravel #miami #nashville #nashvillebusiness #miamibusiness #nashvillebusinessowners #miamibusinessowners #denver #denverbusinessowners #denverbusiness

Effective January 26, 2021, there are new COVID-19 related requirements for all air passengers arriving to the U.S. from a foreign country. Passengers arriving in the U.S. by private jet after this date will need to have COVID-19 testing documentation. All passengers, regardless of citizenship, need to get tested for COVID-19 infection no more than three days before their flight departs and to provide proof of the negative result or documentation of having recovered from COVI...D-19 to the airline before boarding the flight, according to a new directive from the Center for Disease Control released this evening. The order applies to all flights, including private flights and general aviation aircraft charter flights. Passengers traveling by air into the U.S. are required to have proof of testing regardless of flight type. It also includes those of you who have already received COVID-19 vaccinations. Here at Sky Harbour Group, we take pride in our ability to keep our clients and customers safe and healthy. And, we are doing our part to keep you informed of the latest updates in aviation news.
