Dear MICHA Community, Join us on Wednesday, January 13 from 1 to 2:30pm (EST), in our online meeting to consider a BIPOC Theatre Practice. *Open to all MICHA Members *Also, we are a white-majority Association and this conversation will be attended by mostly white-identifying people.... To RSVP, please visit https://zoom.us//regi/tJwrd--hpzguHNwbviOIn4O5EIL2YTg1mPC3 _____________________________ Material to be prepared prior to the meeting: - Please read the letter from our new facilitators at https://docs.google.com//10IfdFsyiRM4Hat6jzQq1vlqVTz/edit - Consider the ways the Chekhov work has caught you up or left you grappling. What can this work do? Where are its limits? What are the blind spots with regard to racism/inclusion? What needs to change? What commitments are you ready to make? How can things move? _____________________________ If you want to be part of our meetings and haven’t joined our membership, you can do so here: https://form.jotform.com/TNNY/donate-to-micha _____________________________ #MICHA #michaelchekhov #michaelchekhovtechnique #michaelchekhovassociation #michaelchekhovactingtechnique #acting #technique #antiracism #online
Chekhov teachers who are teaching in America... how might you utilize your skills in the classroom today to listen and to share stories of what happens when lies spread across the earth? How might you coach your students to use the power of their imaginations to create the vision for our future and the vision of the future leaders for whom they will cast a vote. Pictured here is the penultimate page of Chekhov's story "A Tale About Lies and How Swiftly They Spread Across the Earth", a story he wrote and then shared with his students when he lived in Russia in 1918/19.
