One of our very first procedures at our Repro Center & Outpatient Clinic was an IUD placement for a thoroughbred mare. Our team has been fielding a lot of questions since then about IUD placements so we wanted to share some more details! IUD placement is a great way to manage performance mares without hormones or drugs. This is becoming a popular alternative to Regumate or similar management modalities as IUD placement does not impact future fertility and is a relatively sim...ple procedure. Be sure to speak with your veterinarian if you think your mare might be a good candidate for IUD placement, our team would be happy to help!
