On Wednesday May 5th at Approximately 945pm, our members responded in to the Westbury Fire Department to assist them at a working building fire. Our team that r...esponded in consisted of seven (7) pilots who are FAA Part 107 trained in sUAS. The team worked closely with the incident command providing them with real time video that consisted of 4K video and thermal video. Neighbors helping Neighbors Last evening, the Mineola Fire Department was alerted for a ceiling collapse in a private residence. Chief of Department A. Martone ...Jr. arrived on scene to find an elderly occupant outside reporting a partial ceiling collapse in their kitchen. Firefighters stabilized the scene by removing loose hanging debris and insuring there was no water impingement on the electrical service. With the scene rendered safe MFD could have returned to quarters. This everyday emergency was an overwhelming incident to the homeowner. But thankfully Mineola is a community that cares with neighbors helping neighbors in our Fire Department. Instead of heading home, the first responders went to work cleaning up the mess. Firefighters cleared up the piles of debris and removed it from the home. Third Precinct officers went to work too with a vacuum. All so that the elderly occupants could safely remain in their home. On Monday, May 10th at approximately 1328hours, we were alerted for an Automatic Fire Alarm (A/F/A) at 120 Mineola Boulevard. The A/F/A was quickly upgraded by Chief of Department A. Martone Jr. as he was advised that they have a fire on the 3rd floor and smoke on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors. Ladder 165 was first due, led by Engine 1st Lieutenant N. Ressa. 165s crew immediately made there way inside and up the the fire floor, where they quickly located and knocked down the f...ire. Heavy Rescue 1610 was second due for the truck company, led by Truck 2nd Lieutenant S. Martone. HR 1610 along with Garden City Fire Department crew from Ladder 144 made there way inside and assisted with operations and smoke clearing. Units were up in a couple hours. On May 6th, 2021, at approximately 615pm, Mineola Volunteer Fire Department was alerted for a Ladder to standby at Westbury Fire Headquarters while they battled a house fire. Ladder 165 responded in and was redirected to the scene as a working truck. Crew was led by Truck 1st Lieutenant B. Corrigan. Crews were on scene for over an hour.
