This morning 05/28/21 at about 12:53 am, the Minetto Fire Department was activated for a smoke odor with detectors activated in a residence on CR-25. While responding, dispatch advised 1501 that a fire was now reported in the basement. The structure fire assignment was filled out, sending Oswego Town and Scriba to the scene. Another update reported that a subject had gone back inside after a pet. 1501 then requested an engine from the City of Oswego due to the life hazard. Upon arrival, 1501 found all occupants out of the building and a heavy smoke condition in the basement. After extinguishment, ventilation and investigation, units were back in service around 330 am.
Minetto Bridge Update: The Town of Minetto has received official notification from the NYS Department of Transportation regarding the repair work planned for th...e Minetto Bridge. The following information has been obtained from inquiries into the project: There are two phases of work planned, each including two activities. One activity is the repair of a joint in the bridge near pier 3. The second activity involves the application of a polymer overlay. Each of the two phases will require shutting down one lane of the bridge at a time. This lane closure will require a concrete barrier between the lanes in the roadway limiting the width of vehicles crossing the bridge to 8 feet. The expected duration of each lane closure phase will be approximately 3 weeks, for a total project duration of 6 weeks. The start date is expected to be May 21st.
