After a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic, major summer events are back in Lake Placid ADK. Starting in late June, we'll see the Lake Placid Summit Youth Classic #lacrosse from June 28-30 and the Lake Placid Horse Shows #equestrian for 2 weeks beginning June 29. Lake Placid ADK will have 4 #MemorialDay ceremonies tomorrow, honoring local residents who served their country. It begins at 9:30 where flags will be lowered and raised at the Adirondack Community Church on Main Street near the post office. At 9:50, a service will be held at Elderwood of Uihlein, off Old Military Road. At 10:10, Lake Placid Health and Medical Fitness Center adjacent to Elderwood, and at 11 AM outside the American Legion Hall on Main Street past the skating oval. This year we remember not only local service people, but all those around our great nation who have enabled us to live freely, as well as medical professionals who put themselves at risk in helping all of us deal with COVID-19.
