Six people were injured when a van and a school bus crashed in Brooklyn Wednesday afternoon, officials said. Four of the injured people were taken to an area hospital and two were treated on the scene after the crash at 3:08 p.m. at Flushing and Lee avenues in Williamsburg, an NYPD spokesman said. Officials responded to a 911 call of a collision just before 7:30 a.m., at the intersection of West 60th Street and Broadway. Upon arrival officers discovered an unconscious and unresponsive 82-year-old woman on the street with head trauma. She was later identified by officials as Helga Schnitker. EMS transported the victim to Mt. Sinai Morningside in critical condition where she was later pronounced dead. A man, 29, was seriously hurt in a hit-and-run crash in Brooklyn Thursday morning. It happened near Thomas S. Boyland Street and Prospect Place around 3 a.m. in Brownsville. Anthonelli Ramos, 26, was driving on Orangetown Parkway and was taking exit 9E when he failed to take the turn. He drove off the roadway and overturned. On Saturday just before 9 a.m., State Police Haverstraw, Monroe and Thruway responded to a single car crash on the Parkway in Orangetown. According to police, Ramos was ejected from the vehicle. James Marshall, of Staten Island died on Thursday at 1:30 a.m. The 43 year old was driving south near the intersection with Schulmeister Road when the crash took place. Mr. Marshall rear ended a tractor trailer authorities said. The truck driver suffered injuries but not life threatening. The investigation is still ongoing.
