With the Premier of Barry Jenkins "The Underground Railroad," we can't help but think of the work from Dawoud Bey and his recent body of work "Night Coming Tenderly, Black". Thinking about the journey of running to freedom up north, the landscape, in the dead of night, the fear or being captured, the vision on liberation. Very important work, during a very challanging time.

We are still grieving the loss of New York City's first and only Black mayor to date, David Dinkins. A great man of the people, who dedicated his life to being in service as an attorney, an investor in Black entrepreneurs, and as a politician..A Howard University grad and an Alpha, Dinkins put the well-being of his citizens first, from the working class to the disenfranchised, and we were all made better because of him. We honor his legacy and his relentless pursuit to give in any way he could. Gone but not forgotten... Rest in power dear sir. : Mayor David N. Dinkins, who served the city of New York from 1990-1993, embraces a young supporter. #restinpeace #restinparadise #daviddinkins

Nigerian photographer Obinna Obioma is an artist who celebrates his African heritage through portraiture. Keeping in the aesthetical tradition of inviting people into his space to capture the moment, Obioma does go a step further to investigate and unpack the unspoken cultural happenings that exist behind every photo. In his series "Anyi N'aga (We are going)", Obioma explores migration through the lens of Ghana Must Go bags as fashion must haves. : "Anyi N'aga (We are going)..." series by Obinna Obioma (@mrobinnaobioma) #africandiaspora #art #photographer #culture

Inspired by Victor H. Green's "The Negro Motorist Green Book," we are exploring the relationship between businesses and Black consumers, and taking an active step toward making a systemic shift. We @sustainablebk in collaboration with @pinkcornrows @protectblackbusiness @mocada_museum ... are on a mission to put sustainability theory into practice within the Black community! Help us bring this vision to life by participating in our next Black Consumer Safety Focus Group, whe...re we will discuss three primary topics that impact consumer behavior: safety, education, and convenience. Now is the time to create a standard duty of care that prioritizes Black safety in businesses and patronage. Next focus group is Tuesday, 10/6, Fannie Lou Hamer's birthday! Introducing The African Diaspora Map, a new interactive section and visual tool of MoCADA Digital, grounded by the perspectives and experiences of people of African descent globally. When you navigate across the map, you can explore different countries within the diaspora. Choose a filter to get more insight into the historical, political, and or artistic landscapes that give greater context to the stories of us. With 13 elections occurring across the African Diaspora, in... the first phase of the African Diaspora Map, we are focusing on election dates, summaries of the political climate, and providing supportive links to find further information on forthcoming elections by country. New filters will be added continuously to the experience. More countries will be added to reflect the full diaspora. Artists will be added to reflect our creative prowess globally. Like the community of the African Diaspora, this map will continue to grow and evolve.
