We know tomorrow is #NationalPuzzleDay, but we have one that's got us stumped. ChimRye and Fiesta are both still available and we don't know why. We get that they are blind, but they are SO loveable! Here's a little backstory about these two: ChimRye: Chim is a 5-year-old Tosa, and came to us as a rescue from Korea. He's about 100 pounds of goofy. He came to us with a permanent wink, and the remaining eye really only sees shadows. He can be a bit clumsy, so we think that he w...ould succeed in a home with people who are sturdy on their feet. Fiesta: Our sweet gentle giant. Fiesta is a 7-year-old Spanish Mastiff. She was recently adopted, but it just wasn't the right fit. She is a big fan of snuggles, walks with human friends, and toys. Fiesta would do best in a home where she was the sole pet. Okay, so now you've fallen in love. Now what? Here are two links to help you set up a successful home for a blind dog. Read up, and then submit an inquiry. Both of these pups are lucky members of our foster-to-adopt program. This means that they get to go home on a trial foster basis. You get regular check-ins with a behavior specialist at the shelter, and we help you figure out if they are the right fit. mohawkhumane.org/adoption-inquiry HSUS: humanesociety.org/news/blind-pets BDRA: blinddogrescue.org/dog-blindness/tips-for-owners/

This week's #FAQFriday may not be the happiest, but it's definitely an important one. When you lose a pet, there are things to consider and lots of emotions to feel. We feel lucky to be able to offer different levels of cremation services, through Final Gift Pet Memorial Centers. Cremains, urns, and pawprints come back in approximately one week for memorial for those who choose. Another amazing service we offer is Pet Bereavement group counseling. Losing a pet can be hard, e...specially when people don't realize how your pet becomes a part of your family. 6pm on the first Wednesday every month, Estelle Giles-Monroe, MSW, LCSWR hosts a Google Meet for those going through pet loss. We ask that participants are at least 16 years of age. This incredible program is underwritten by In the Comfort of Home - house call pet euthanasia. Our next Pet Bereavement session will be held on Wednesday, February 2. Information regarding this program can be found here: mohawkhumane.org/pet-bereavement

Ashley and Elizabeth decided that for Christmas, they were going to shop for the animals instead of for one another. Look at this incredible spread of things the animals get to use. Thank you ladies for this incredible gift. #ThankfulThursday

Day 138 Dear Diary, I have been given a new residence on the adoption floor. I was skeptical at first but I now have to say I love it. The humans like to stick their hands in to clean up my mess and when they do I can pop out and playfully smack at them. I am looking forward to exploring the rest of my space. Today is truly a good day.... -Glimmer mohawkhumane.org/adopt/available/details/48629014 #diaryofasheltercat

Meet this awesome pair for #BuddyTuesday: Behavior Specialist/Vet Assistant Adrienne and her buddy Miss Sophie. Adrienne said Miss Sophie is working hard to become an MRS soon! Miss Sophie is quite the romantic, and thinks it should be a match made in heaven. Miss Sophie shows her love and affection by booping snoots with you (that means I Love You, right?). She is also a huge fan of holding hands (or paws). Miss Sophie has a zest for life and is a wiggly, happy lovebug. She loves to snuggle and get massages, but Miss Sophie needs a lesson or two before she can call herself a masseuse! Happy #BuddyTuesday! This week, our buddy duo is Animal Care Supervisor Bree with her best pal Norman. In Bree's words, "Norman loves basically everyone he meets but really doesn’t like other animals. He’s super smart and knows all the basics (sit, down, paw, stay). He is a talker and will make his presence known!" He is working on his jumpy/mouthy behavior as well as dog socializing. He is a work in progress for sure! Sometimes it's love at first sight. Giselle and Rodeo are two peas in a playgroup pod! These two silly pups match each other's energy well, and clearly love the company of other dogs. They would both benefit from being in active households that can provide lots of love, structure, and patience.

Meet our Benson's Pet Center Pet of the Week: Empress! As her name suggests, Empress is the queen of any room she walks into. She is sassy, self-confident, and never does what she doesn't want to do. She can be a bit stubborn, and can get hissy or snippy if she's too excited, but so can any ruler. Due to these traits, we do think she would do best in a home where all members of the household understand her boundaries. She is just under two-years-old. so her reign over your kingdom has many years to go. Are you ready to add a confident lady to your home? Empress might just be your girl. Cat adoptions do not need an appointment, so come on down and meet this beauty! mohawkhumane.org/adopt/available/details/47686841
