The ice has been measured and is considered safe for ice fishing at this time. Please understand that as the weather changes we may have to close the ice again to keep everyone safe. We had a beautiful full moon hike to end 2020 this past week. We followed it up with a viewing of the moon, using our long awaited telescope. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers who helped us pull this off. Please keep an eye out on the programs to see when we can offer more night programs. Update... the gates down to the beach parking lots will remain closed for the winter season. Please remember you can use the park 365 days a year by parking at the office parking lot (upper lot) and walking to whatever destination you like. Please keep all dogs on leash for their safety as well as other park guests. Practice safe social distancing and always have a mask ready for the times when you may need one. Did you know you are required to wear a mask on trail when y...ou can’t socially distance?!? Such as while passing others, asking for directions or enjoying a vista or summit. The Friends of Moreau Lake are giving away free Kid's Holiday Craft Project packets on Sunday, Dec. 20 from 12 - 2pm at the park office. There are 3 crafts inside - a paper tube snowman, poinsettia cutouts and salt dough ornaments ready to decorate. All three come with instructions. Members of the Friends will be handing them out at that time. Any packets remaining will be available at the park office during normal business hours. So pick one up and send us a photo of your completed projects! Happy Holidays from your Friends!

Due to the weather forecast for this weekend, we will be closing the gates down to the beach. This will begin on 12/4 and continue though the weekend. There are no bathrooms available at the park today, this includes drinking water. Please come to the park prepared for this. We have portable bathrooms available at the recycling center with sanitizing stations. We expect to have this problem amended Friday or Saturday. ... Thank you for understanding. Sunday 12/6 10am Ridge Run Hike On this hike we will be traversing up the Baker trail to reach the Ridge Run trail. The baker trail is about 1 mile with a moderate incline to it but once you reach the ridge run it is relatively flat atop the mountain. This hike will be about 4-5 miles round trip. We will hike at a moderate pace stopping to look at the wonderful sights including the Moreau Lake overlook and breaks for water and snacks. You must wear masks for the duration of this hike. Spaces are limited, please call 518-912-2304 to reserve yours with 24 hour notice. $2 for adults and $1 for children and seniors. We will meet and pay at the park office.
