Zara Krilov, PT, and Tatiana Herrera, OT, of the Department of Rehabilitation and Human Performance at Mount Sinai Morningside, went above and beyond the call of duty by demonstrating compassion, patience and empathy for a patient who had a prolonged stay in the Intensive Care Unit and had previously been depressed, anxious, and not motivated to get out of bed or participate in therapy. Their effortsincluding a hair wash and detanglingwere successful in positively impacting this patient’s functional progress and emotional state. Alicia Thomas, MSPT, MPH, Director of Rehabilitation Therapy Services at Mount Sinai Morningside, shares her appreciation for her colleagues Zara Krilov and Tatiana Herrera. #StoriesOfExcellence
I am so impressed with Joseph Crimi, PA. There was a patient who was crying out for help on 3 East. She was evidently confused. As I approached the room, I witnessed him at bedside, eye level, purposefully reorienting her. He did this with patience. I sensed compassion and empathy in his approach and tone. He reassured her that she was safe and, eventually, the patient was expressively comforted. It feels great to know that we have clinicians of this caliber at Mount Sinai Queens, exuding excellence. He is a role model. Jonathan Nover, MBA, RN, Senior Director of Nursing, Emergency and Critical Care Services at Mount Sinai Queens, shares his appreciation for his colleague Joseph Crimi, PA. #StoriesOfExcellence

At 50 years old, Peter Cole was diagnosed with a precursor condition to #MultipleMyeloma, called Monoclonal Gammopathy of Unknown Significance. He was referred to our team at the Mount Sinai Multiple Myeloma Center of Excellence. He has enjoyed a full remission due to success with a relatively new medication, Daratumumab. "I feel quite strong," Peter says. I log in 60 to 80 miles a week on my bicycle during the season, swim regularly and continue full time with my architect...ural design practice. I am extraordinarily grateful to my Mount Sinai team. Dr. Cho is clearly extremely knowledgeable about Multiple Myeloma, but as important, he is warm and compassionate and his good sense of humor helps lighten the load. I also want to recognize the highly skilled and empathic Mount Sinai team, including a nutritionist and physical therapist, who have been a valued source of support during a challenging time in my life. They have provided a depth of expertise, facilities and resources that have been invaluable to me. Read his full #PatientStory: https://fal.cn/3b83Y

Janice Benjamin was at the gym, powering through her normal workout when her cardiologist called with bad news. Janice needed open-heart surgery due to a faulty mitral valve. She turned to Mount Sinai's Dr. David H. Adams for her surgery. The surgery went well, as Dr. Adams and his team were able to repair her mitral valve completely, correcting the severe regurgitation that had been causing her symptoms and affecting her heart’s ability to pump. Two months after the surgery, Jan was already walking four miles per day, had completed her cardiac therapy, and had resumed light workouts. They did a fantastic job, she said, praising the entire surgical team. It was minimally invasive, and my friends all call my scar ‘cute’ because it’s so small.
