The Mount Sinai South Nassau Vaxmobile closed out the week at the De La Salle School in Freeport, providing #COVID19 #vaccines our community, thanks to our partnership with the Town of Hempstead. Stanley Pena, 13, of Freeport, said his primary goal this afternoon was to get immunized with the COVID-19 #vaccine at the Vaxmobile at the De La Salle School in Freeport, where he is a 7th grader, to protect myself and my classmates. Stanley’s decision to take the vaccine was c...heered on by his mother, Kendy Marte, and Mount Sinai South Nassau Nurse Practitioner Amber Vitale. Jeffrey Lemus, 15, of Hempstead, a 9th grader at the Kellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale, got his first dose of the Pfizer vaccine this afternoon to protect myself and my [soccer] teammates. On Tuesday we’ll be at the Rockville Centre Rec Center. Same day appointments are available, and walk-ups are welcome. The eight-grader at Lincoln-Orens Mid...dle School in Island Park, who may have been the first Long Island student age 12 to 15 to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine after the federal government authorized it, said she was not nervous about the immunization because she believes in science. Julia Turner, 15, of Long Beach and a student at Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead, also received a dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Sophiana Arroyo, 12, a student a Long Beach Junior High School, was the youngest person so far to receive the vaccine from the hospital's overall vaccination program since it was launched in mid-December.
