"This is my first tattoo. I know it's small and simple, but it means a lot to me. I realized that I was trans about five years ago. Soon afterwards I recognized that I needed to transition, but I wasn't in a good place to start changing my clothes or wearing makeup because I was worried about upsetting people. Until I could come out to friends and family, I needed something that I could do to affirm my femininity that I could keep hidden.
