We are so excited to share this with our students, graduates and partners! Our good friends Deverill Weekes, the host of our MUD Talks, and Juliet Landau have produced a film called A Place Among the Dead, which is being presented by Modern Films, and MUD is doing an online special preview screening event on Sunday November 1st! The film is Juliet Landau’s (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Ed Wood, Bosch) directorial debut and is produced by Deverill Weekes, starring Landau..., with Gary Oldman, Ron Perlman, Robert Patrick, Lance Henriksen, Joss Whedon & best-selling author Anne Rice, appearing for the 1st time ever in a movie! In a revealing and terrifying meld of fact, fiction and the fantastical. Actress / filmmaker Jules, driven by the demons of her past, embarks on a journey at the potential cost of everything she knows and loves. Followed up with a one-hour talk about the make-ups, the process of creating the characters, and a Q&A with Juliet Landau (Director, Writer Producer), Deverill Weekes (Producer, Writer, DP), Rachel Kooyman (Make-up Dept Head & MUD Graduate), Amber Talarico (2nd & MUD Graduate), Kevin Haney (FX Make-up, Actor in the film, Oscar winner: Driving Miss Daisy), Todd Tucker (FX Make-up crime scene stills, MUD Program Advisory Committee Member), and Ann Beckette (Make-up artist for crimes stills, one of the victims in the film, and MUD Graduate). Interestingly, there are six additional MUD graduates who are the crime scene victims in the film. This is an amazing film with a great cast and a great opportunity for students and grads to see filmmakers and fellow grads talk about the whole experience. Runtime of the film is 76-minutes with the full event about two and half hours with the screening and panel. The ticket price is $12.99 USD and streams on November 1st at 12PM PST and 3PM EST.
