A patient asked us to duplicate a pair of glasses they liked that broke. #3dprinting #print3d #3dprint #3dprintedglasses #optometry #glasses #eyewear

Replaced the 3 random Pokémon toys I had put up to help get kids to look at the visual acuity chart with the full Eeveelution set.

Converted an old Corona beer bucket into a pot for a lavender plant to commemorate this crazy 2020 year so far.

Added a germicidal UV light to the pre-testing room. After researching the effects, I'd say the duration of exposure and elevation of the light shouldn't be harmful to our patients, but they can always opt out. @ Optoid Print3d Eyewear

The air conditioner turned air filter wasn't letting me use the air conditioner itself, so I devised a new way to filter the air in the exam room for the safety of our patients using a carbon pad, a HEPA filter, an inline exhaust fan, and a Can Filter I got originally to filter noxious paint fumes. @ Optoid Print3d Eyewear

Custom 3D printed attachment housing an N95 filter to a fullface snorkel mask for my sister who's an ER nurse. Because the filter is not breathed upon all day, it's reuseable as a result, saving precious medical resources. Nothing is more satisfying to me than when a 3D design comes together into a perfectly 3D printed product that fits exactly where it should. @ Optoid Print3d Eyewear

Spring is returning. Being in Brooklyn reminds you that life is always in flux.

Made our own hand sanitizer according to the WHO ratios. Not as gel-like as the commercial ones, but definitely will kill the virus given how most of it is just isopropanol.

Patient request of an updated pair of a previously #3dprinted #eyeglass #frame. Redone with prescription lenses and pretty much the exam custom coloration. We anticipate having more time to work a new line of #print3d #eyewear for #2020 with our reduced patient schedule, so stay tuned. @ Optoid Print3d Eyewear

The vivarium P. terribilis population got wiped out by a few weeks of high temperatures in the office space last year. Plus an ich infection decimated my fish population after I had to raise the temperature to 90 degrees for a few weeks. Slowly rebuilding the population by bringing back the New River Tincs I grew out from juveniles. Just goes to show how fragile life can be. But life always finds a way. @ Optoid Print3d Eyewear

Personal message regarding COVID-19: When the virus first reached the US, I started ensuring I had necessary medical supplies for the office. I prepared as if this virus were extremely virulent, but the reality seems as though COVID-19, while usually not fatal for the general population, can be severe in patients with certain risk factors (especially age) and pre-existing conditions. Most of all, it is highly contagious. But because I feel adequately prepared to continue safe...ly seeing patients, I have decided to make a stand against the virus instead of shuttering the office by enacting the following: 1) Everyone who comes into the office is considered a potential COVID-19 carrier. 2) On a personal level, I immediately wash my hands and arms upon entering the office, change into scrubs that remain in the office, don a half-face respirator with dual N95 filters, put on goggles, and wear gloves that I then rub hand sanitizer on. I have a complete containment suit, but I think that's a bit much. We're not facing a zombie apocalypse...yet. 3) Our schedule is reduced with only one staff member at a time. They are required to wear a mask and gloves at all times as well as scrubs. Patients can only book appointments on our website now to restrict one patient or family in the office at a time. 4) I have outfitted the exam room air conditioner to exhaust filtered air out of the room. 5) I strongly suggest all patients, upon entering, at least sanitize their hands. We have 5 gallons of hand soap and can compound 5 gallons of our own WHO formula hand sanitizer. 6) Everything that touches a patient is wiped down with alcohol in front of patients (which was already done anyway). Any instrument that touches the eyes is placed in a dilute bleach solution afterwards. We clean all glasses that have been in contact with a patient as well. 7) Twice a day my staff and I wipe or spray everything with Lysol or diluted bleach. At the end of the day, the floors are mopped with diluted bleach. I think these protocols are the bare minimum for us to see patients at this point. Please stay safe out there. @ Optoid Print3d Eyewear

Interesting parafoveal RPE changes OS and OD. Using toxic maculopathy as the working diagnosis because the patient reports increased blur with an increased dosage of Lamictal (lamotrigine). However, this medication isn't known to cause maculopathy, so it's likely a red herring. @ Optoid Print3d Eyewear
