On today, the International Day of the Girl, we take a moment to celebrate and thank the amazing teachers who are changing the future for the young women at our St. Monica Campus. Mrs. Ward, Mrs. Garippo, Ms. Ness, Miss Bartella, Mr. Jones and Ms. Rosa inspire their students to be the best they can be. Because of them, our graduates are earning scholarships to attend the best high schools in WNY including Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart, Nardin Academy, Buffalo Seminary (SEM), Mount Mercy Academy and Nardin Academy. We are so proud of our Alumni Community and we especially love when they come back to work with the next generation of students. Meet Alumni Jordan Kawaya '12. Fr. Durkin told me I was one of the first few people he met when he came to Buffalo, NY, said Jordan. "I came to St. Augustine when I was in 6th grade. The school gave me the tools I needed to be successful, he added. After graduating from NativityMiguel in 2012, Jordan attended St. Joseph's Collegiate Insti...tute. He then went on to study at Niagara University and is now finishing his degree in Philosophy. When he is not working as a teacher assistant at St. Augustine, he is studying for the LSAT as he prepares to attend law school next year. Jordan is also the Diversity and Inclusion Chair of Niagara University's Student Government and he was appointed by the president of Niagara University to be part of the Identifying and Dismantling Racial Inequity Task Force at Niagara University. Jordan is pictured with a piece of artwork he created in 6th grade at St. Augustine. The message is so moving, the artwork still hangs in the halls for all the students to see.
