SHIPPING UPDATE What a week! We fully packed out lots of these trucks these this week. First we want to thank everyone who participated in our Memorial Day sale. The response was overwhelming and we do not take any of that for granted. You all are appreciated.... The second point is our industry is at an unprecedented point in terms of backorders. Stuff’s getting weird (a recent example is whey concentrate pricing temporarily exceeding whey isolate at the manuf. level, or the price of creatine mono. skyrocketing). (Side note: We are planning on doing some content with a man who’s super well-informed on this topic right now soon: none other than NutraBio’s @themarkglazier.) So the upshot of that is many of our vendors are struggling to keep products in stock right now. That said, we did pretty well playing defense here and preemptively removed most of the backorders upfront. A few did get past the goalie, howeverbut we’re reeling those in as we speak. 1st Phorm Products! Meet Multi-Fiber & Magnesium! Everyone here (by now) knows my stance on magnesium. In terms of the likelihood it’ll help vs. any risk (hint: nonexistent), it’s one of the best supplemental interventions out there. Easily in my top 3. Here’s why.... Magnesium (Mg) is one of the most important minerals for proper metabolic function. It is a required cofactor for hundreds of metabolic enzymes and an important signal within the nervous system as well. Magnesium tends to have a calming, relaxing effect on the mood - some would even call it de-stressing. And it improves regularity. Most Americans are deficient in magnesium, however (some estimates say up to 80% ). The dietary sources of Mg aren’t prevalent in the SAD. And even if you’re taking a quality multi, most of them skimp on minerals because they take up too much space in the capsule or tablet to dose adequately. Magnesium deficiency is strongly correlated with hypothyroidism, which is arguably the principal factor in a sluggish metabolism (and ultimately, weight gain). Beyond that, magnesium *lowers* resting muscle tension. High resting muscle tension can manifest symptoms ranging from tension headaches/migraines to localized muscle cramps (because the muscle cannot relax). @1stphorm’s is a high-dose *powder* in two brand new flavors (they’ve never used anywhere else in their lineup, either): lemon tea & peach ring! HOME MADE BARS New from Axe & Sledge Supplements, there’s a lot to like about this gluten-free protein bar made from real whole food sources. [SWIPE TO SEE THE MONEY SHOT ]... WHAT MAKES THEM DIFFERENT? The protein source is a 4-protein blend of whey concentrate, whey isolate, egg white, and bovine collagen. Then honey + almond or peanut butter and some soluble tapioca fiber. Each has its own variety of natural crisps or chips too. Major point of differentiation 1: no artificial sweeteners, but they do use monk fruit + stevia. This is actually a net good though, because it enables them to use less honey, and thus less carbs / sugar overall (if you’re macro / carb conscious). Major point of differentiation 2: protein is the first ingredient. So the protein content varies from 17-21g/bar depending on flavor. But also, because the added fats appear lower on the ingredients, the total calories are lower here, between 240-270 cals (depending on flavor). Major point of differentiation 3: nothing artificial, including preservatives. The shelf life is short, but we’ll argue again that that’s a net positive.
