For this workout I wanted to do a quick progression maxing out at 127lbs. Normally, I only go as heavy as 120lbs, but today I loaded up the extra long barbell handle all the way and wanted to see what I could do. Got five agonizing reps out of it after a fast 10 with 80lbs and 8 reps with 100lbs to warm up. One of the hardest parts of training alone is that you don’t have a spotter, so whatever you lift is what you lift. Could have eked out a few more reps for sure if I ha...d a spot, but the job was done. Push till you can't go anymore and find that place where your will for the weight to go up and the weight going up become one and the same! I was sore for a good five days afterwards! I did one set with 80 lbs for 20 reps, and another one with 100lbs for 15, and I was planning on going all out with the 127lb dumbbells for my last set. But it's dissembled and I didn't feel like taking the time to put all those plates together. I train fast and don't like long breaks between sets and in retrospect I should have prepared it beforehand. But I don't always know what I am going to do next when I train. I know how hard I am supposed to go and what angles I need... to hit, and the rest is completely intuitive and I never do the same routine twice. So instead of going heavier, I decided to do one more set with the 100lb dumbbells and go all out. Here it is... Still training and hope you are too!!! Fast and furious high incline shoulder presses! The first set is a warmup of sorts, the second is a solid working set that all but ensures that the last one feels almost impossible. Training fast and resting only long enough to change the weights lowers the amount of weight you can use, but increases the intensity exponentially. And you end up in a place where it's really a battle of your will versus the weights. That's the part I live for; that final set that feels so hea...vy that part of you wonders if it will ever go up, but you fight nonetheless, with ever fiber screaming for the weight to go up, and up it does! It's been quite a while since my last contest in 2004, and though I have no plans to compete anytime soon, posing remains part of my life, as it's an art form that for me, transcends the bodybuilding stage. It's a bit odd to be posing in front of a camera again and I admit that I am a little rusty after all these years, but here's what I look like today.
