As the season comes to a close, please join uss for our annual Movie Night this Saturday, June 19. We will be showing the classic baseball movie "The Sandlot" at Gunther Field (on Bellmore Ave); the movie will start at dusk. Bring chairs and/or blankets and towels to sit on. Popcorn will be provided. Hope to see you there!
Don’t forget to schedule your photo appointment today! Little League photos are a great keepsake... it goes by fast!
Picture day for North Bellmore North Merrick Little League is June 1st through 3rd at Gunther Field (located on Bellmore Ave across from Grace Lutheran) Please review the attached flyer for instructions to make appointments and pre-order your photos. As previously mentioned, there are several exciting changes coming this year. First, parents will be able to choose when they want to come to picture day. Second, parents with multiple children in the league can make multiple... appointments at same time, thus eliminating multiple trips to Gunther Field. Please take a moment to review these key instructions. 1. You must make an appointment. Instructions for making appointments are on attached flyer. If you have multiple children in the league, please make an appointment for each. Appointments are available Tuesday 6/1, Wednesday 6/2, and Thursday 6/3 starting at 4PM. For example, if you have 3 children in the league, you can make 3 separate appointments at 4:30PM or you can make one at 4:30, 4:35, and the last at 4:40PM. Appointments are first come first serve. 2. Please pre-order your pictures. Unlike previous years, there will no to limited ability to purchase pictures on site. Follow the instructions on attached flyer. This will save everyone tremendous time. Just bring the pre-order slip or number with you and hand to the photographer. 3. Even if you are not going to order pictures, please make an appointment. Island Photography is going to use their technology to create team photos from the individual photos. In order to have complete team photos, it would be great if everyone would attend. 4. Bring 1 prop (bat or glove - not both) for individual photo. 5. Lastly, due to many different factors (June is busiest time of year for Island Photography, increased amount of time needed to make team photos, etc), turnaround for pictures will be 3-4 weeks. Just a heads up.
Just a reminder that this years pitch hit and run contest is tomorrow (Tuesday, May 18th) at Saw Mill Road schools at 5:30 pm. There are no fees related to the contest. However, we will be collecting donations of unopened LEGO sets in honor of Dylan Murphy, a child in our community who fought a brave fight against leukemia. In his memory, Dylan’s dream foundation has done great things for others who are battling childhood cancer. By collecting these donations, we are furthering Dylan’s love of LEGOs and helping share that love with others in need of some cheer. You can drop off a donation at the registration tent tomorrow. The Pitch, Hit and Run contest is going to be a great time! Hope to see you there!
The Pitch Hit and Run contest is the Official Youth Skills Competition of the MLB, and the first local round of competition will be at Saw Mill Road School on Tuesday, May 18th at 5:30 pm. There is no registration fee! This competition is designed to encourage youth participation and emphasize the fun element of baseball/softball. Kids ages 7-14 are invited to participate by showcasing their skills and having some fun! There are two separate divisions of this competition - ba...seball and softball - and participants may compete in either division. Here’s how it works (participants are grouped by age and compete against others in their age bracket): PITCH: Participant is tested throwing strikes to a designated Strike Zone target. HIT: Participant hits a ball off a stationary tee for distance and accuracy. RUN: Participant is timed, running from second base to third to home plate. All of the events are individually scored and converted to a total point score through the use of conversion tables. Winners may have the opportunity to advance to the next round of competition, if their scores are high enough. See https://www.mlb.com/pitch-hit-and-run for more details on the competition.

The holiday season is upon us, but baseball season is coming back soon... and registration for our spring season is now OPEN! There will be no paper flyers distributed through the schools this year, so please share this post and spread the info by word of mouth. Hi NBNM Little League Families! As many of you may know, one of our baseball players, Carsyn Volpe, is battling cancer. A NMNB Little League family - the Lebowitz family - has set up a spirit wear fundraiser through which you can order shirts, hats, or car magnets to show Courage for Carsyn! The website will be open for orders through December 6. Part of the proceeds will go to the Volpe family, plus this is a great way to show Carsyn that his Little League community is cheering him on as he fights this battle. #courageforcarsyn #noonefightsalone https://www.4spiritwear.com/Courage_for_Carsyn.htm
Carsyn is the sweetest child, friend, and teammate that anyone could hope to have. He has been a part of our NBNM Little League family since t-ball, and he has always shown tremendous heart and courage on and off the field. Carsyn is a childhood cancer survivor, having successfully fought Neuroblastoma at age 2. Now, at age 11, Carsyn is once again faced with battling cancer. Let’s show Carsyn and his family that the NBNM Little League community supports them, and that we are rooting for Team Carsyn! https://www.gofundme.com/f/courage-for-carsyn

Great read - some of the best sports stories are about compassion, empathy, humanity. Kudos to Albert Almora, Jr. for reminding us that sometimes there IS crying in baseball. And that’s ok. https://www.scarymommy.com/albert-almora-foul-ball-video-/
Action shots from Saturday’s Indians v A’s game in the T-ball division. As we wind down the season, these kids are still going strong!
Don’t forget the Home Run Derby this weekend! Friendly competition, and lots of fun for kids ages 6-12! Let’s raise some money for a great cause.
Interesting article. Good reminder that as parents/spectators, we should show restraint and decorum, and model respect to all, including the umpires. Let those bad calls be an opportunity to talk to your child about how to deal with adversity and unfairness. When parents resort to name calling and bad language, we send the message to our kids that it’s an appropriate response, that it’s ok to behave badly when we don’t get our way. In youth sports, character and sportsmanship should be paramount. And we must set an example at the top. Those traits will take your child much further in life then winning any one game.
There’s still time to sign up for the NBNM Little League First Annual Golf Tournament! You don’t want to miss out on this event. Play at a premier golf course for a great cause, and enjoy dinner (with open bar), raffles, prizes, and more!
