#mondaymotivation Although most of us know what we should be doing to help keep our health intact, in today’s increasingly busy society, oral health, one of the most important aspects of overall wellness, tends to be an area that is easily overlooked. Routine dental exams and cleanings are the most efficient way of identifying abnormalities in the mouth and preventing potential issues from growing in size and severity. During a dental checkup, a dentist is able to detect issu...es such as tooth decay, cavities, gum diseases, and oral cancer. Identifying and dealing with these problems early enough not only increase chances of successful treatments but also will help save you a lot of money in the long run. If you are due for a routine cleaning and exam, call National Dental at 516-696-9118. We accept most insurances and have many convenient locations across Long Island and Manhattan, along with new patient special offers. #oralcare #oralhygiene #dentistry #dentalworld #dentalcleaning #springcleaning See more

#Earthday is celebrated every year on April 22nd and is a reminder of how we can do our part to protect and conserve our planet. Here are a few tips that can help you keep your teeth clean, while also being an earth friend and helping to preserve the environment: -Turn off the water. Do not leave the water running when you brush your teeth. So many people, including some of us at the office mindlessly brush our teeth with the water running. Turn on the water only to rinse yo...ur mouth and toothbrush. -Try a new kind of toothbrush. Many of us have switched to electric toothbrushes which because of the smaller size of the replacement head reduces waste but for people who still prefer manual brushes try going natural. Try a toothbrush made from recycled or renewable materials and recycle it when it’s time for a new one (ideally every 3-6 months). -Compost your toothbrush. If you choose a biodegradable tooth brush you can put it in your compost pile or the green containers that many of us get from our local refuse company. Biodegradable toothbrushes are generally made of corn starch that can be used to help a garden grow instead of clogging landfills. -Don’t flush floss. It is important to properly dispose of floss. Non-biodegradable nylon floss cannot dissolve in water and will not break down like other disposable products. When floss is flushed down the toilet, it works its way through the water system and out into the ocean, polluting the water and potentially killing birds, animals and sea-life through accidental ingestion. This is avoidable by simply throwing floss into the garbage.

#tiptuesday Periodontal disease and gingivitis affects approximately 80% of adults. At National Dental, we have the latest in dental technology to keep our patients’ teeth, gums and mouth as healthy as possible. Our highly skilled and talented hygienists recommend Laser Bacterial Reduction as a necessary treatment during your routine cleaning. Using a light laser, this treatment is extremely important because it reduces and eliminates the bacteria in the mouth that causes inf...lammation and periodontal disease. During routine, standard cleanings there might be minimal bleeding that can occur so LBR treatments protect the patients from the risk of bacteria entering the bloodstream because the laser does not cause the gum to bleed. This laser treatment is painless and normally only takes 3-5 minutes so make sure to ask your hygienist for this treatment at your next cleaning. Call National Dental at 516-696-9118 to schedule your next cleaning appointment! #oralcare #oralhygiene #dentistry #dentalworld #laserbacterialreduction See more

A lot of patients want to know if Medicare plans will cover the cost of dental implants and the short answer is no. Since Medicare doesn’t cover the costs of most dental procedures our National Dental offices don’t participate with Medicare plans. According to Medicare.gov some advantage plans include some dental coverage but for those who have a standard Medicare plan, it doesn't cover most dental care, dental procedures, or supplies, like cleanings, fillings, tooth extracti...ons, dentures, dental implants, dental plates, or other dental devices. Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) will pay for certain dental services that you get when you're in a hospital. Part A can pay for inpatient hospital care if you need to have emergency or complicated dental procedures, even though it doesn't cover dental care. It is the sole responsibility of the patient to pay 100% of the procedure out of pocket. National Dental offers patients 3rd party financing options that have low interest rates and can also set up payment plans based on the needs of the patient. Please call us today if you have questions about Dental Implants and need to review financing options at 929-525-7089! #dentalexperts #dentalworld #dentistry #oralsurgeons #bestdentists #oralcare #exceptionalservice #medicalinsurance #dentalimplants See more

#Motivationmonday Our patient is raving about her new smile because her dental implants changed her life! According to Web-MD, more and more people are getting dental implants to permanently replace missing teeth. Dental implants are a long-term solution because they are imbedded in your jawbone just like your natural teeth. They even do your natural teeth one better since they can't develop cavities. Plus, unlike fixed bridges or removable dentures, dental implants will no...t affect neighboring healthy teeth or lead to bone loss in the jaw. If properly cared for, dental implants can last a lifetime and have an overall success rate of 95%. If you or someone you know is embarrassed about their smile and can’t eat the foods they once loved, call the dental experts at National Dental today for a complimentary consultation at 929-525-7089! #dentalworld #dentistry #oralsurgeons #bestdentists #oralcare #beautifulsmile #eatagain #dentalimplants See more

#DYK According to the American Academy of Periodontology, a new study finds that gum disease may raise the chances of hospitalization or death if COVID-19 strikes. The reason? Gum disease can be a sign of inflammation throughout the body. "It is well-established that systemic inflammation is not only linked with periodontal disease, but to several other respiratory diseases as well," explained Dr. James Wilson, president of the American Academy of Periodontology. "Therefore, ...maintaining healthy teeth and gums in an effort to avoid developing or worsening periodontal disease is absolutely crucial in the midst of a global pandemic like COVID-19, which is also known to trigger an inflammatory response," Wilson said in an academy news release. The findings show the importance of good oral care during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the academy. Gum disease can cause bleeding gums, bad breath and, if untreated, can lead to tooth loss. Up to half of U.S. adults aged 30 and older have some form of gum disease, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If you are currently experiencing any periodontal issues, call the team at National Dental today at 929-525-7089, to schedule an appointment for all your oral care needs and to keep you safe and healthy! #oralcarespecialists #oralcareneeds #gumdisease #inflammation #dentalworld #dentistry #bestdentists #oralcare #exceptionalservice #safetyfirst See more

If you’ve suffered a traumatic injury and need a maxillofacial prosthetic procedure you should consult with a Prosthodontist. #mondaymotivation If you are planning a major oral surgery (such as getting dental implants) you may be wondering if it’s possible to get your medical insurance to cover your dental treatment. According to Cigna, the short answer to this question is that yes, medical insurance will cover some types of oral surgeries, but not all of them. Your medical insurance is filed with specific codes used to describe the service that is being rendered. Codes outline the type of oral surg...ery, if the surgery is a medical necessity, how complicated it is, which tooth is involved, anesthesia/sedation, etc. The insurance policy will then dictate which codes are or are not covered. The best way to find out if a specific procedure is covered by your plan is to work with the professional team at National Dental, who have experience filing medical claims. Medical insurance claim processing is not the same as dental claims, so you need to work with someone who understands the process and is thoroughly qualified in this field. A medical billing coordinator will be able to get a breakdown of your benefits, so that your care plan outlines which services are covered, by whom they are covered, and an estimate of how much your insurance company will pay. If you need dental implants, call us today to schedule a complimentary consultation and to find out if you are eligible for coverage under your existing medical insurance plan! #dentalimplants #dentalexperts #dentalworld #dentistry #oralsurgeons #bestdentists #oralcare #exceptionalservice #medicalinsurance #medicalbilling See more

#tiptuesday Keeping your mouth healthy is incredibly important and there’s an additional level of care to follow if you’re a candidate for dental implants or have recently gotten dental implants. According to the AAID, here are 5 good habits to build right now: 1. Brush your teeth twice daily for a full two minutes each time. 2. Floss at least once a day. If there is enough space between your teeth, an interdental brush is recommended. Soft-picks can also be used when the spa...ce between the teeth is smaller. 3. Switch to an electric toothbrush if possible 4. Use antibacterial mouthwash. This helps prevent bacteria from growing and reduce any inflammatory reaction in the mouth. 5. Commit to stop smoking or chewing tobacco to prepare for the procedure. While oral hygiene may not be on top of your mind right now, a healthy immune system is critical during a pandemic and your mouth is a gateway for viruses and bacteria to enter your body. Keeping your mouth in tip top shape frees your immune system to fight off other sicknesses as needed. National Dental offices are safely open and ready to help serve your oral care needs.
