I'm trying to recover from Bartonella, a Lyme disease co-infection. It requires a combination of 2 antibiotics taken continuously for 3-5 months in order for the Bartonella infection to reslove. My Dr. Took me off of the 2 antibiotics I was taking for 2 months, and put me on a homeopathic regimen for Bartonella for the last 4 months. I am still having symptoms. I am now back on 2 strong antibiotics. Hopefully I will erradicate this soon. I have been infected since May 2018. ...Testing is unreliable. i did however test positive for Bartonella from Galaxy Diagnistics back in November of 2018. But force your Dr to listen carefully to your symptoms, send you to special labs for blood work, and ask him/her to keep an open mind about treatment. If you are seeing an integrative physician, try both antibiotics and natural remedies. Lyme Disease ( borrelia burgdorfi) bacreria respond well to natural, as well as prescription medications. Don't give up. If you are not seeing results and feeling better in 4-6 months, either change doctors, or change your treatment protocol. Bartonella is difficult to erradicate and very difficult to detct on blood tests. The only lab that specializes in testing for Bartonella is www.galaxydx.com. It might take you awhile to find a doctor that can refer you to galaxy diagnostics because they don't accept referrals from Doctors in NY State. Find a Lyme Literate MD outside of NY State to give you a requisition form to get testing from Galaxy DX. OR you can drive to Pa to Anylabtestnow.com and they will draw blood and send to Galaxy dx without a drs. prescription. Keep at this and don't give up. I'm am persistent. See more
