Grace and peace, I pray you are growing stronger in your trust and faith in God. These uncertain days are by any standard extremely difficult. I, personally, know how invasive covid-19’s existence is. People have it, know someone who has it, know someone who has succumbed to it, or are consumed with avoiding it. While definitely quite disconcerting, it affords you an unique opportunity to strengthen your relationship with God. Even as you go through this present-day wildernes...s, you can get to know God better. As you see the struggles of God’s people in the Bible, you can relate and become more aware of how God moves with them through, and does not lift them out of troubles. He is ever-present and ever-aware. I am ever-aware of GOD. I love that. The ministry theme is Purposefully Pursuing the Presence of GOD that we may know Him better not just know more about Him. We seek His face before we seek His gifts. Worship without Relationship Results in Rituals. Rituals eventually evolve into Religious Superstitions. Religious Superstition gives a form of godliness which lacks power because faith is transferred from God to the ritual. (2 Tim 2:5) The ritual becomes all-important and exerts an unnatural hold on those who come to believe that the ritual has power or brings results. This happens gradually and can result in changing a part of the Body if Christ from an organism fueled by the Holy Spirit to an organization where the Holy Spirit is literally ruled out. You must examine yourself, especially in dire times. Make sure that you have not fallen into Religious Rituals or Religious Superstitions. Scheduling time for spiritual tasks is fine . Setting aside time to pray, meditate on the Word, and read the Bible are excellent habits. Allowing those habits to rule over your life is where there is danger. If you feel guilty or like you sinned if you miss one of those tasks or don’t do it at the exact scheduled time, then you have an issue that needs attention. Remember, Jesus told the Pharisees that the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. (Mark 2:24-27) We have great power as Christians that emanates from our relationship with GOD. I pray that each member will grow stronger in that relationship and move in that power to demonstrate and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus came to set us free not to give is new shackles.
