Join us for a virtual Zoom presentation and discussion from William Walker. African-American sacred folk songs unified and codified the enslaved community and abolitionists. How and when did these spirituals--as they called come to be? Did they have more than one purpose, or were there several? Are they existential, transcendental, or seditious. Were they all three of these? To celebrate Harriet Tubman, we will investigate at least two types of the spirituals, which she loved so much. Presented by William Walker.
