In this brief spiritual reflection, Fr. Christoph Wrembek explains the sculpture of "Judas and the good shepherd", carved at the capital of a column in the medieval Basilica of St. Mary Magdalene in Vézelay, France. Fr. Christoph will take you on a challenging, yet ultimately deeply touching journey through the figure of Judas and the mercy of God. Our newest book, Two Martyrs in a Godless World: Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Alexander Men, has deep roots in Orthodox Christianity. It's author, the French writer Michel Evdokimov, is an Orthodox priest and theologian. One of the two figures featured in the book, Alexander Men, was a Russian Orthodox priest and scholar. The Afterword is by Olivier Clement, one of the great Orthodox voices of the 20th century. And we received powerful endorsements from three Orthodox thinkers, in...cluding Dr. Raxvan Porumb, a leader at the Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies at Cambridge. Two Martyrs brings the Orthodox Christian world into a fruitful dialogue with one of the key Protestant figures of the 20th Century, the German pastor and theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Don't miss this one. As Porumb says, this books "brings a message of hope and optimism to the secular world." https://www.newcitypress.com/two-martyrs-in-a-godless-world See more

The YouTube link featuring today's webinar on global migration is now available in case you were not able to join us live. It was an excellent discussion filled with stories from Scripture, from immigrants, and from grassroots activists. And it served as a great introduction to our newest release, What Does the Bible Say About Strangers, Migrants and Refugees?, by vnThanh Nguyn, S.V.D. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWyryZiI8Do

The scale of human migration can be overwhelmingestimates are that more people are on the move in our time than at any time in human history. To each number there is a human face, a person made in the image of God. How can people of faith respond to this crisis in tangible ways? How can the Bible inform our response? To look at these and other questions related to the migration crisis we will be joined by a panel from across North America with a variety of experiences and ...perspectives on migration. SPEAKERS: -> vnThanh Nguyn, S.V.D., is the author of the new book "What Does the Bible Say About Strangers, Migrants and Refugees?". Nguyn came to the United States as a refugee from Vietnam in 1975 and he is today Professor of New Testament Studies. -> Dannia Orellana and Aida Pena were born in San Salvador, El Salvador. In the 1990s they fled the Civil War in El Salvador and came to Los Angeles, California. -> Sean Ryan and Monica Nugent are university students living in Vancouver, British Columbia. As an outgrowth of their Catholic faith, both are active in Dignity Inherent, a group working to raise awareness about human trafficking and Canada’s laws on prostitution.

It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives, the will to follow an ideal, the refusal to allow yourselves to be grounded down by mediocrity, the courage to commit yourselves humbly and patiently to improving yourselves and society, making the world more human and more fraternal.
