Dear members: NHYHA will be shutting down effectively Dec 14th (today). The Governor has placed us in a yellow zone meaning we are further restricted on our capacity at one time. We will revisit opening up as planned on Jan 4th after our scheduled holiday break. Please stay safe and stay tuned for further updates. Happy Holidays and stay safe.

Dear Members We will resume practices on Sat Dec 5th. Same Safety procedures as before. Please if your kids are sick at all do not bring them. We want to continue to provide an opportunity for the kids to be able to participate in hockey. Your cooperation with safety procedures will allow us to do so. Also if you do not feel comfortable sending your kids please do not hesitate to keep them at home. Please keep checking the schedule. From time to time there may be some minor adjustments. Our next shut down will be around the Christmas Holiday. We will shut down from Dec 24-Jan. 3. We will resume again on Jan 4 if we are still allowed to. Stay safe and enjoy the upcoming Holiday season. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Chris Moran

Dear youth hockey families, Our scheduled shut down for the Thanksgiving break will be extended due to the recent Covid spike and our Schools going fully remote. Dear NHYHA members: We will be doing a week long shutdown for all groups from Nov.26th-Dec.2. Although traveling is discouraged this shutdown will give plenty of time for the Thanksgiving holiday festivities. It will also separate the groups from each other for 7 days. Although no formal shutdowns regarding youth sports has been issued we feel small things we can do will make a difference. Thank you all for making sure your kids have been coming mostly dressed limiting time ...spent in close areas getting dressed. I will remind everyone to make sure the kids are wearing masks in and out of the building. I have been very impressed at how everyone has adapted to all the rules and changes!! Stay tuned as we may do a similar shutdown around the Christmas and New Year Holiday. That is if we are not shut down by the governor office or The County Executive at any time soon. Will keep everyone informed of any changes along the way. Thanks Chris Moran See more

Potential LTS registrants: Unfortunately we have to start a waiting list as our number of participants is limited to 50. We have already split that 50 in half for 2 different sessions. We are allowing 1 parent per child into the arena thus putting us at the limit allowed in the arena for each group. If you would like to be put on a wait list if someone backs out or we are able to allow more into the arena please sign up for that. Again we apologize but due to the health conce...rns we live with we have to limit our numbers. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Please go here to have your name added to the waitlist: https://forms.gle/pA4gv6dN3pb5mfGK6 Thanks Chris Moran 315-404-4737

Dear LTS parents As of this posting we are at 37 registrants. Thus the need to split the group into 2 separate groups per day. One parent per child (or family if multiple kids)will be allowed in the arena to assist their child. No exceptions!! Please adhere to the following rules : Parents wear masks the whole time they are in the arena. Players will wear them into the arena then on the way back out. Bring your player fully dressed if possible. Hard skate guards help a lot s...o they can walk right in dressed. At very least put everything on except skates and helmet. There will be coaches to assist if needed. Use the new side parking lot and rear (2 doors for entry). Players will get dressed in the rear lobby. Coaches will escort them to the arena when ready. Players will in turn undress in the bleachers when they are done so sneakers coats etc will be carried by parents from the back lobby after dressing to the bleacher area. After practice you will exit the new (4 doors) into the parking lot. No bags into the arena. A lot of rules but very simple. Just follow the coaches lead and ask for help if needed. Nov 7 sat is the first skate Group 1 -1015-1100am (doors open at 10am) Group 2-1115-1200(doors open at 11 when first group clears out) Please stay tuned to emails for your group assignment. Also please check out the LTS schedule on our web site. Typically we will do 2 groups fri nights: 515-600 and 615 -700 and the above listed sat time frame schedule. I’m sure there will be many questions. Feel free to email or text/call me with any questions . Thank you for choosing nhyha. Chris Moran [email protected] 315-404-4737 See more

Dear Members: As we continue into our third week of ice I want to thank all parents coaches and rink staff for continuing to support our mission. We are getting kids back on the ice while also keeping them as safe as we can from the Covid virus. I’ve been to several practices and am very impressed with what I’ve seen. Just a few reminders moving forward: Please be on time for drop off (not more than 15min prior) and pick up (10 min after). Your promptness makes the flow of th...e kids through the arena easier. Make sure players are wearing masks in and out of the arena. Use the hand sanitizer stations available in the arena area after practice. With your continued support we will have a successful season even with the restrictions placed on us. If there are any questions or concerns feel free to reach out to me anytime. Thank You Chris Moran 315-404-4737 See more

Dear members Thank you all for adhering to Covid related rules this week at the rink. We have one week under our belt and things went relatively smooth. Just a few reminders: Please keep a close eye to the schedule online. I have been trying to adjust times slightly to make things more smooth in transitioning groups in and out of the rink. Please especially with the younger kids think about buying hard skate guards. That way kids can roll right in fully dressed. Most have don...e that already as I’ve seen. Again if they are fully dressed there is no reason to get there until 5 or 10 min before the practice starts. Doors will not open until 15 min prior to start time. Lastly please by patient with the times as things may change as the year progresses. I will keep everyone updated with any changes that may be coming down the line. Thank you all for sticking with us during these times. Any questions feel free to reach out to me. Chris Moran 315-404-4737 See more

Dear Community Members: Along with my fellow Youth Hockey board members and general members I would like to thank The New Hartford Town Board,Town Supervisor, Highway Superintendent and of course the Town workers for all the improvements at the New Hartford Recreation Center. Over the course of the spring and summer many improvements have been made inside and outside of the arena. The 40 yr old arena has gotten a much improved facelift!! I would like to address the most notic...eable improvement, the Expanded parking lot. The new configuration of entry and drop off points on the side of the building could not have worked without the construction of the new parking lot. The new entry point puts players closer to the locker rooms and eventually will play into all rink necessities being in the rear of the building. Also the entry point will have an overhang for parents to drop kids or spectators off under during Inclement weather. I understand that the new lot has caused some concern over loss of green space. I understand that as I played AYSO soccer as a kid on that field and also coached my own kids AYSO teams on that field. All AYSO soccer has been combined to the New Hartford St location to make it easier for parents and spectators to watch multiple events in the same place. As many of you know New Hartford is home to many parks, trails and other green space areas. Sherillbrook Park, Elm St Park, Rayhill Nature trail, and New Hartford Veteran’s Park. I feel that we did loose some green space with the new parking lot but there are many other vast green spaces within our community. Aside from the need to make our new entry more accessible the parking lot will serve as additional parking for High School events,Youth Hockey events, Figure skating competitions, Town events, and daily High School parking needs. In our beginner Learn to Skate program we typically have around 75 and sometimes close to 100, 2-8 year old participants. Parents and Grandparents pack the arena on Friday nights to watch their little ones. If you’ve never witnessed the traffic problem it was dangerous at times and a mess. In closing I would just like to reiterate that the concern for loss of green space was considered when planning and building of the new parking lot was under way. However public safety, greater parking needs, and building accessibility out weighed the loss of green space. As New Hartford Highway Department Foreman and New Hartford Youth Hockey President I would invite anyone who has concerns to feel free to reach out to me. Thank You, Chris Moran NHYHA President Highway Foreman See more

New Hartford Youth Hockey 07.09.2020

Dear NHYHA Members: Due to some technical difficulties getting ice down, the season will be delayed by 1 week. A problem with a brine leak in the system was thought to be more of a problem than it appears to be. Compressors are on and running and are being monitored until this Friday. At that point the ice will begin to be laid down. If all is well (which it should be) ice will be ready for us Oct 19th. I have been working with the rink staff to keep up with what’s going on ...daily. As I have stated in earlier emails please be patient this season as there is plenty of unknown circumstances. Please don’t hesitate to register your children. No matter what transpires this season we will make good on extra ice to make up for lost time, partial refunds if games or practices are cut short by virus issues or whatever may arise. We are working on extending the payment option into the season. It expired after 3 months of registration being open. If anyone has any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. Fingers crossed we will get going on the 19th. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Chris Moran

Dear Members: We are excited to announce that we are ready to begin our 2020-2021 youth hockey season in New Hartford!! It has been a tough year for all, so being able to get back on the ice will be nice. There have been a lot of rumors going around about NHYHA not opening up this season. That is not the case at all. All levels have been given the ok to practice only at this time, As far as games, our governor will be revisiting high risk sports on Oct.19 so we will wait and s...Continue reading

New Hartford Youth Hockey 22.06.2020

Dear NHYHA members: I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying summer as much as we can. Just wanted to clear up any confusion there may be as far as COVID and youth hockey being shut down. New Hartford Youth Hockey is governed by New York State amateur youth hockey. Governor Cuomo has listed Ice Hockey as an at risk sport for the spread of COVID. Therefore any Official New Hartford Youth Hockey on ice, off ice ,summer tournaments etc.. are off limits for us. There are numero...us postings for hockey camps I’ve seen. It’s up to you as parents to decide whether you want to participate in those private events. The Town of Whitestown is offering ice times at their rink. These rentals would need to be private and not associated with New Hartford Youth Hockey. There has been no dates set as of yet when we as New Hartford Youth Hockey can begin official youth hockey stuff. When we are able to return to our official youth hockey stuff you can bet it will be with limitations. I’ve already seen unofficial proposals for no contact no games for this year. We will wait and see what comes about in the next few weeks. Stay tuned as I will update everyone with anything I hear. Remember anything being offered as far as hockey right now is private and has nothing to do with New Hartford Youth Hockey. This is statewide and not isolated to certain organizations or areas. Please be patient as I am just as confused as you all are. Any questions don’t hesitate to text or call. Thank you Chris Moran 315-404-4737 See more
