Looking for something to do? Remember Erie County is celebrating its Bicentennial this year into next April. There are many events planned for the year so keep your eyes open for exciting things to do. The Erie County 200 website www3.erie.gov/ec200 will give you many current events that may be of interest. The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library (downtown building) opened the Buffalo Presidential Center on April 24. Millard Fillmore and Grover Cleveland both had ma...jor ties to Erie County. Stop in and check it out. Also at the library you will find an E is for Erie County display which will give you historical information regarding the county. The EC website will also give you information on walking tours, Canalside activities, and many other interesting programs. If you need something local, pick up a copy of the National database of Historical Markers at the Newstead Public Library. This list will give you one hundred historical markers within a fourteen-mile radius of Akron/Newstead. Do you know Akron/Newstead has four markers? Activities will be added throughout the year so keep checking the website. See more
