2020 is going to be a little different for New York City's legendary MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET....better known as The 84th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The annual event that kicks off the start of the holiday season has been changed up a bit due to safety precautions with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As previously shared, Macy's will be doing the parade in the style just like what they did this past summer for their annual 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. No one w...ill be allowed to line the streets to watch the parade pass by as a spectator. There will be no Marching Bands and Character Balloon handlers. It will only be a limited 75% fewer participants and no one under the age of 18 will be allowed to take part. However, the key notable elements from the parade will all be staged all over 34th Street and Herald Square in front of that famous endpoint at Macy's store. The character Balloons will be attached to cars, you'll expect to see several floats, and of course that HOLLY JOLLY king of the holidays himself Santa Claus making an appearance at the end (even though he will not be doing any meet & greet photo ops at the actual Macy's store this year). Many bits of the parade will be pre-recorded. No word has been revealed for celebrity guests and if they will do any bit in tribute to the community of Broadway and Live Theater. However to keep our spirit alive with the Macy's Parade, we at New York Broadway Tours will still be doing our TOP 30 BROADWAY AT MACY'S COUNTDOWN beginning tomorrow. Every day from tomorrow till Thanksgiving Day, we will reveal our 2020 edition of our favorite Broadway show performances from both the previous NBC telecast (Live from Herald Square) and CBS telecast (usually Pre-Recorded on location or from their actual Broadway Theaters). This is a chance for us to show our love for Broadway and their unforgettable history taking part in such a beloved landmark event. We know in our hearts Broadway will be back ASAP and next year will be a full celebration gathering hopefully. The 2020 edition of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is set for Thanksgiving morning on November 26th, 2020 at 9am EST NBC. Thoughts? Who is excited?

FIRST LOOK: Next month kicks off the 4th Annual BROADWAY'S BEST (on Great Performances) part of the PBS Arts Fall Festival. Kicking it off beginning November 6th, 2020 is the smash Award winning comedy ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS starring James Corden in his breakout Tony Award winning performance (before becoming the host of The Late Late Show). We are so happy to share with you a funny clip of Corden in action (filmed on the stage of London's National Theatre) during one of his b...ig comedic showstopping moments in the play. In the scene, Corden as out-of-work skiffle "Francis Henshall" gets into a mad and crazy argument with himself with balancing 2 jobs working for both... a gangster and an upper class twit. Prepare yourselves for some hilarious wild physical comedy in this scene. In case anyone may not know, ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS is written by Richard Bean. It's an English adaptation of a 1743 Commedia dell'arte style comedy play by Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni. Set in Brighton in the year 1963, the story centers on "Francis Henshall" (Corden), a out-of-work skiffle who becomes hired to work 2 jobs. The bosses are.....a gangster and a high class idiot. However, "Francis" tries to keep the two men from meeting, in order to avoid being caught. In addition, complicated events happen throughout the play. The play originally debuted at The Lyttelton at London's National Theatre in 2011. It was well received by critics before embarking on a UK and then a quick transfer to the West End playing both the Adelphi Theatre and the Theatre Royal Haymarket. The London engagement ran for 3 years. The show did not receive any Olivier Awards nominations in 2011. With the overwhelming response of the show's UK premiere, it made its way across the pond to our Broadway backyard in the Spring of 2012. It played a strictly limited engagement at Broadway's Music Box Theatre for 13 previews and 159 regular performances. Under the direction of Nicholas Hytner, the cast (that made the move from the UK to Broadway plus will appear in this filmed performance) was led by.... James Corden as "Franciss Henshall", Oliver Chris as "Stanley Stubbers", Jemima Rooper as "Rachel Crabbe", Suzie Toase as "Dolly", the late Fred Ridgeway as "Charlie Clench", Claire Lams as "Claire Lams", Daniel Rigby as "Alan Dangle", Trevor Laird as "Lloyd Boateng", and Tom Edden as "Alfie". It also features an onstage house "Skiffle Band" called THE CRAZE (who also wrote the songs for the play). The Broadway engagement was nominated for 7 Tony Awards in 2012 winning only 1 for BEST LEADING ACTOR IN A PLAY (for James Corden). It also won the Outer Critics Circle Award that same year for BEST NEW BROADWAY PLAY. Following the original UK and Broadway debuts, ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS has continued to launch multiple touring companies all over the world. Who is excited about this play coming to PBS?!!!

The show's first performance back on the stage of London's Apollo Theatre since the shutdown is set for November 28th..., 2020. It's scheduled to play a strictly limited 6 month run. Tickets for JAMIE's return to London will go on sale beginning TOMORROW at Noon!!!! Majority of the cast is still expecting to be the same as it previously was before the shutdown along with some newcomers consisting of.... Everyone will be having constant temperature checks plus required to STILL social distant and wear their face masks. For Theatergoers with social distancing, seats in the Apollo Theatre will be removed to also give patrons more legroom (yup, you know how tight it gets being in a row at a Live Performance). In addition, there will be full extra sets of hand sanitizers plus maintenance doing extended constant deep-cleanings. For the actual show, EVERYBODY'S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE's creative team has been putting some alternative changes into the staging all for safety. Because the story is set in present day, it will take place in the current "COVID world" we are living in today which will feature the Ensemble members (playing High School students) wearing matching face masks on stage. Along with the stage production, EVERYBODY'S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE is set to make its way to the big screen next year. The film adaptation from 20th Century Studios is set to be released in Theaters everywhere beginning February 26th, 2020. Thoughts? Who is excited?!!

Over 10 years ago, 2 time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster released her acclaimed debut solo album WISH from Ghostlight Records. The album featured the versatile stage and screen star (returning to Broadway next year in the revival of The Music Man) performing a unique blend of Musical Theater favorites, pop covers, Jazz standards, and more. A highlighted track from that album is a moving duet between Foster and her longtime BFF Broadway favorite Megan McGinnis (Broadway's Be...auty and the Beast, Off Broadway's Daddy Long Legs, and recently on the tour of Come From Away) called FLIGHT. The song was originally written in the early 90's by Tony Award nominee Craig Carnelia. The arrangement on the album was done by Foster's longtime musical director and friend Michael Rafter. For both Sutton Foster and Megan McGinnis, they have continued to perform this song live in concert (including during majority of Foster's ongoing solo concert tours). Now, 10 years later since the song was recorded and released, both BFF powerhouses have reunited for the first time IN-PERSON and filmed a music video to accompany the song FLIGHT. With safety COVID-19 precautions, the video features Foster and McGinnis social distancing from each other walking through a driveway on a hill (in the forest). It was directed by Foster's current husband Ted Griffin Sutton Foster and Megan McGinnis first met in August 2002 performing on Broadway together in Thoroughly Modern Millie. They both later went on to be ASTONISHING sisters together 8 times a week in the musical Little Women on Broadway. Since then, they've gone on to become the best of friends ever since supporting each other's every move. How beautiful was that duet?!!!
