#Storytime : We love to hear stories about our volunteers, and this one came from one of their moms! Of her daughter's day volunteering, she wrote, "I want to share a story about my daughter. Last month, my daughter volunteered in Manhattan. Her duty was to take food to seniors. That day, it was raining heavily, and she and an another girl pushed a food cart under the rain and gave food for old people in four buildings. When she came back home, she was so tired but her face was very happy. She said to me by helping people she felt glad and meaningful." That makes us feel glad and meaningful, too. Thanks, mom!

We remember American history, no matter how dark, to build a more equitable future. Today marks 100 years since the Tulsa Race Massacre, when the Black Residents of Tulsa, Oklahoma were terrorized by white rioters in an area widely known as Black Wall Street. In the early morning hours of June 1, 1921, a conflagration sparked by Jim Crow laws, land lust, and White Supremacy took the lives of 36 people, wounded more than 800, and decimated more than 35 city blocks. #MemorialDay may be the unofficial start of Summer with its warmer days and fun with friends and loved ones, but the holiday has deeper meaning. Today, we remember and honor the sacrifice of our countrymen and women who have died in theaters of war. Want to incorporate commemoration more in to your festivities? Did you know the Red Poppy, or Remembrance Poppy, has been a symbol of lives lost to war since World War I , and it plays a big part in the history of Memorial Day. Sales of red poppies often benefit veterans associations, charities and causes. The poppy is also worn in many of the countries that were Allied during World War I. Try buying one at your local flower shop.

Still want to make a difference but feel like you don't have any time? An employee who works for one of our corporate partners had 75 surplus Fitbits that they wanted to ensure went to good use. They reached out to us, and thanks to our ongoing relationships with community partners, we were able to find these Fitbits a home with Achilles International who do physical activities like running and other workouts with children with disabilities.
