Happy birthday to an amazing astronomer, Annie Jump Cannon!
64 years ago, Lawrence D. Bell passed away. One of America’s greatest aviation visionaries. It was also the first flight of the Bell XH-40 which became the famous UH-1 Huey Helicopter. His legacy lives on today.
We've got some great stocking stuffers at reasonable prices. Come on out and support the museum! We're open Saturdays and Sundays 11-4 with plenty of social distancing.
Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier on this day, October 14, in 1947. It was a great accomplishment for him and also for the men and women from Western New York who built the Bell X-1 rocket plane. (Did you know it was originally called the "XS-1"? The "S" was for "supersonic".) You can listen to this 2019 presentation by Bill Swenson who worked on the Bell X-1 and the other Bell X-planes at the link below. https://niagaraaerospacemuseum.org//museum-celebrates-wny/
We will need to go see this piece of Western New York history at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center!
Did you know that our local company, Moog Inc., was instrumental in NASA's Orion Program? The Orion Program developed human spacecraft for deep-space missions.

REST IN PEACE GENERAL CHUCK YEAGER, AMERICAN AVIATION LEGEND, AGE 97. First pilot to break the sound barrier in the Bell XS-1.
Here is a big THANK YOU to Hadley Exhibits for providing these (and other) awesome signs to help us communicate our face covering requirements to our visitors.
Another visitor on reopening day, Susan Farchmin Horab, found her grandfather, Edward Farchmin, in a photo the day Larry Bell donated a Bell model 47 to the Burgard Vocational High School. Edward was an instructor in the aviation mechanics program there.
