You may have heard the expression Quid Pro Quo in the news but do you know what it means in the context of employment law and sexual harassment? Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination which is unlawful. Being sexually harassed is extremely difficult to deal with and even harder to speak to someone about. Many of my clients have thought about giving up and just letting it go. So many of them feel unheard even by the lawyers they hire because they feel that the la...wyers only want to focus on the $$$ and that they fail to show empathy. As a trained life coach, I know how important active listening is for not only understanding people who have experienced such a situation but also for purposes of healing. I understand how important it is to provide a safe environment to speak comfortably without any form of judgment involved. The words we use and the energy we give off tells a lot about what matters to us. What matters to us is being able to help you obtain YOUR justice. It all starts with a conversation. We offer no obligation free consultations and we work on a contingency which means we only charge you if we are able to recover compensation for you. Our link in bio has all the details about our firm and our numerous reviews will tell you we are about fighting for you. #quidproquo #sexualharassment #genderdiscrimination #workplaceculture #hostileworkenvironment #workplaceharassment #metoo #metoomovement #metoo #metoo

Do you think an employer has the right to dictate how a man or woman should appear to their customers and clients? Do you feel that they have a right to influence how you behave, dress, and appear to them and others as a woman or a man? I truly believe that to place certain expectations on someone on how they should be, appear, and behave is an unfair & discriminatory thought process especially when it deals with ones gender. ... #genderequality #genderequity #genderequalityforall #genderexpression #genderstereotypes #genderstereotyping #genderidentity #genderroles #genderrolesaredead

Within the last decade, there has been mounting evidence of discrimination & harassment against Muslims in many different aspects of the workplace. While employers equip themselves with tools and policies to combat the rise of religious discrimination, there is still an overwhelming number of Muslims claiming they’ve been mistreated at their jobs. At this point, education is critical to reducing Islamophobia.... In this episode, Atty. @Ahmed Mohamed, Legal Director for @CAIR-NY talks about the issues experienced by Muslims in the workplace, the gruesome and shocking stories that they endured during their employment and, the things that you can do to protect yourself. The workplace CAN be a place where you can be free to be who you are. A place of equality and equity reflective of the society we want for ourselves and others. A World where we are treated without judgment for who we are. Sadly, that isn’t the case at most workplaces. Many times, people are expected to be a certain way because certain stereotypes have been placed upon them. Those stereotypes may be institutionalized in the very fabric of our society where certain people a...re expected to be a certain way. Gender stereotypes is one type of stereotyping which in my opinion is a form of unlawful gender discrimination. When an employer expects you to behave a certain way, look a certain way, and be a certain way - it’s holding you to a skewed version of what they believe a women is. Times Up, Metoo, and other social justice movements have been instrumental in fighting the systemic institutions that cater to gender stereotyping and discrimination. Have you ever experienced gender stereotyping? #genderstereotypes #genderstereotyping #stereotypes #genderdiscrimination #genderequality #genderequity #genderbias #womenwork #workingwomen #workingwithkids

Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett is a pro business/employer Judge. A racial slur such as the N-word does create a hostile work environment. Yes, the utterance of such a word does alter the work environment- specifically to those that it was referenced towards. This is just another opinion on the 7th circuit which should cause more concern about the future of our Supreme Court and for worker’s rights. ... #amyconeybarrett #employmentdiscrimination #employmentlaw #employmentattorney #discriminationattorney #racialslur

Equally troubling is the disability pay gap. Among the 11 million employed Americans with disabilities, median earnings were 66 percent that of their peers without disabilities, or $23,848 compared to $36,034, according to 2018 U.S. Census Bureau data (the most recent available).

83% represents the number of times Amy Coney Barrett decided in favor of employers/businesses against employees who alleged they experienced a violation of their civil rights within the workplace. That’s concerning for a number of reasons but most importantly, businesses will continue to dictate and engage in violations of individual rights with limited accountability. An already pro-business environment will further continue to cater to more income disparity, inequality, a...nd inequity. #amyconeybarrett #civilrightsattorney #employmentlaw

Employers will always document, record, and memorialize their version of the facts on how you are as an employee. Many times they will develop a record that shows many concerns leading up to your ultimate termination. What are you doing to protect yourself and your version of the facts?... My tip to you is to DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT! Document any instances of workplace discrimination. My recommendation is texting or emailing where possible. Specify the discrimination and provide examples in your written complaints. Those written complaints should be safeguarded in a designated folder that you retain in a safe place. You should know you are protected against retaliation as a result of documenting your complaint of discrimination. Most employers know better than to retaliate because they know it’s unlawful to do so. You may even notice that they start to address your concerns and resolve the issues- it does happen. If you need assistance or help, don’t hesitate to reach out to us for a free consultation. Link in Bio has all our information. As always, thank YOU for your support and appreciation. Getting fired or laid off during this difficult time can put a lot of stress on you and your family, especially when you rely on every paycheck to make ends meet. One option that will help keep you on your feet is severance pay. Are you eligible?... Do you know how much you’re getting? Were you asked to sign an agreement that’s broad or complicated and several pages long? You may be getting money from your employer, but you have to make sure you are fully aware of what you’re gaining and what you may be giving up in exchange. #severance #severancepackage #severancepay #laidoff #laidoffnyc #laidoffworkers #laidoffwork #severanceagreement #covid_19 #covid #covid19 #covidworkers #covidworker #workplacelawyers #employmentlawyers #newyork #newyorkcity #employee #employeebenefits #employeewellbeing #employeerelations

The majority of people that reach out to our firm are unfortunately going through a very difficult time. Furthermore, unfortunately we are unable to pursue a legal claim for the vast majority because they don’t have enough to make a case. However, as an executive life coach I do take the time to actively listen to them about their workplace issues which seemingly caters to their unhappiness. ... Sometimes I identify that they are unhappy with the type of work they do, that they are in difficult space emotionally unrelated to work, or perhaps there is something else going on that is impacting them which is causing them unhappiness. Having a professional actively listen to them and ask them inquiry oriented questions (non-judgmental) leads to numerous breakthroughs. It doesn’t happen in one conversation- it could take many as we try to understand what’s going on as WE gain perspective, clarity and understanding. No matter what the cause of the unhappiness, when it comes to identifying toxic environments- I will always try to empower people to get out of them if there is no way to eliminate the cause of the toxicity. You deserve better, always. Period. #toxicfreeliving #toxicworkplace #toxicworkenvironment #toxicity #toxicenvironment #executivecoaching #employmentlaw #workplacebullying

What is an executive coach? We hear a lot about life coaching, business coaching and other forms of coaching. Coaching in general is a process that requires strong communication skills - most importantly : active listening skills. A coach is a non-judgmental, inquisitive, curious, and growth oriented partner. Sometimes your employer may have you work with an executive coach that works on leadership development or team-building. Other times, you may be assigned a coach for one... on one coaching services.
