North Salem is a magical place with so much to offer for outdoor enthusiasts. The NSBTA maintains trails for horseback riding on private property and on North Salem Open Land Foundation (NSOLF) parcels. The trails we maintain on NSOLF are also used by walkers and hikers. But private landowners in town do not want walkers on their properties unless they have permission. NSBTA members DO NOT have permission to walk on private property...you can only ride a horse. There are many places in town where horses are not allowed. So please be happy with what you have offered to you and do not disrespect private landowners by walking where you are not welcome. PLEASE-SHARE!

TRAIL Closures due to EVH-1 The recent outbreak of the virulent strain of EVH-1 has caused some of our landowners to close their trails. Every day we get an email about new closures. The big parcels currently closed are the old Vineyard Trails behind Old Salem Farm, the Riverside Farm trails west of Delancy and south of Hardscrabble and the Red Horse Farm trails north of Hardscrabble. The Turkey Hill trails are all closed as are some trails on Finch Road...the trail next t...o the beautiful pond and the old trolley trail. It's impossible to keep updating on a specific landowners request. So please, stay off the trails just mentioned and also any trails that go near a barn or paddock. Also avoid contact with other horses should you meet one out and about. Thank you and hopefully this will be over soon. As of March 23rd, there are no new cases of EVH-1 in North Salem. Thank you! NSBTA is putting together the membership directory for 2021. We put in a handful of advertisements to pay for the printing and mailing. If you would like to place an ad, please email [email protected]. Your ad will not get lost in a huge book. It will be front and center as there are only about 7-10 ads. Thanks!!!

Every year we produce a Directory of Members. If you would like to place an ad, please let me know. We only solicit enough ads to pay for the printing and mailing of the Directory. Also, If you have an awesome photo of riding in North Salem, please email it to [email protected]. I'm looking for our cover photo! This was the one from last year.

The beehives in the meadow on Finch Road along one of our trails were stolen in the last couple of days. Did anyone see anything or does anyone know anything that can help?
