Made the paper today!

Seems lately I have been getting quite a few calls for "My dryer seems to take a long time to dry", or "I have to run the dryer 2 times to get the clothes dry". This points to an air flow problem- and is typically caused by a restricted vent. Please everyone- check your dryer vents before winter.... There are over 15,000 fires caused by dryers every year in the USA. A quick way to check is to just go outside and get some eyeballs on the vent- is the bird catch clogged? Is the flap opening like it should? Do you feel strong airflow out the vent? I use an airflow meter. You should measure 12-15 mph coming out the vent. 15- 20 mph is better. Anything 10 mph and lower is cause for concern. Again, everyone go outside right now and check the airflow out of your dryer! Stay safe!
