In the past 36 hours, the Schenectady Police Department has responded to, or been made aware of seven overdoses that occurred within the City; sadly including o...ne fatality. Currently, we are gathering more information and an investigation is underway. Although several substances are suspected throughout all of the incidents, it is possible that multiple overdoses are related to adulterated cocaine. We are asking anyone who is currently using any substance, or knows someone who is using, to spread this information and help save others. Below you will find information on some of the many agencies and programs right here in Schenectady who can help, including our own Schenectady Cares Program. Please share. From the Capital District Recovery Center - CDRC Very important fundraiser. Save the date....May 23rd. Never Walk Alone.... I am reaching out as a Board Member of the Captial District Recovery Center. We are having a Memorial Benefit Walk at The Crossings of Colonie on Sunday May 23rd from 12 noon to 4 pm. We are bringing attention to the stigma of Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health AND the important role our "Fur Babies" play in our healing! We want everyone who loves their pets and either is in Addiction Recovery/Mental Health Recovery or knows someone that is (or was) to join us with their leashed pet, so we can celebrate the unconditional Love to and from our pets and the sense of community we all feel because of this. More information is below and I look forward to hearing back from you. Registration is now. Here's the information: https://www.capitaldistrictrecoverycenter.org//www.capita/

Sunday, June 13th, 2 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. - Nopiates Healing Nature Walk - RPA and The Nopiates Committee (Nopiates) are partnering for a Healing Mindful Nature W...alk. We are all struggling with something. Time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, promote healing, and balance our mental health. If you are feeling the stress and mental health impact of the times, if you or a family member are struggling with addiction, or if you want to learn about a new healthy activity to support your recovery, you are warmly invited to join us. We will spend time in the present moment, allowing ourselves to restore, unwind and let go, and breathe as we linger in RPA's beautiful Albert Family Community Forest. This event is free and all are welcome. Ages 12+ (let us know if a younger person would like to join and this could certainly be possible in the right circumstances). See more
