Dear Members and Guests, New York begins phase 1 of reopening on May 16, 2020. Because we were unclear if NFRGC would be allowed to reopen during this phase, we reached out to Senator Ortt for guidance. Here is his response: Thanks for reaching out. Senator Ortt has been advocating for the opening of gun clubs and shops. We appreciate the effort you've put into social distancing and safety precautions, and we've shared gun club safety plans with the Governor, his staff, and ...Lt. Gov. Hochul to demonstrate how thoughtful the 2A community has been in operating safely. The Second Amendment is not nullified in the face of a pandemic, and it's important that New Yorkers have the opportunity to exercise it. Unfortunately, the Governor and Empire State Development still have final say as to which businesses can and cannot open. Until gun clubs are listed as "essential businesses" on ESD's list, your club could potentially face trouble with the state for operating. This essential business list is periodically amended, and we expect changes to this policy as we near the beginning of the "reopening" phases. I will pass along any updates as they come. It may be of interest to you to request consideration as an "essential business." You can do so by filling out the form. I hope this helps. Senator Ortt will continue to push for the opening of gun clubs and shops. Please let me know if you have any other questions. We know that you are all eager to get back on the course and we apologize for this disappointing news. We have filed a request as suggested above and we are waiting for a response from NYS. In the meantime, we are working together to create social distancing guidelines for our club so that we will be ready to operate once we receive the okay to reopen. Thank you for your patience during this time. NFRGC Board of Directors

To All: The board of directors have closed North Forest Rod and Gun Club to public shooting starting on Wednesday, March 18th. We hope to reopen on Saturday, April 4th. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this decision.... Our top priority is to maintain the safety of our members, guests and employees. In order to do this, we have chosen to comply with the following Federal guidelines for COVID-19: Avoid social gatherings of more than 10 people. Older people: Stay home and away from other people. Avoid eating or drinking at bars, restaurants and food courts. Thank you for your anticipated understanding. NFRGC Board of Directors
