DEC Forest Rangers are busy 24/7 assisting in search & rescue missions and emergencies, not only across all of New York State, but they also step up to answer t...he call when other states are in need of help as well. Recently, DEC welcomed back NY’s 3rd team of Forest Rangers, staff, and volunteers, who had been deployed to help battle and contain wildfires raging in several Western states. We thank those who went to California, Colorado, and South Dakota to help with the wildfires, and we are glad to welcome them back unharmed. For more details on this great story, and for more Forest Ranger highlights, follow this link: https://on.ny.gov/34ADkz4
I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this fundraising campaign. I have reached my goal and I will be spending some time in the county jail, but... I am not done yet. The fundraising campaign continues through next week, and the next milestone to reach is $5,000 to continue raising awareness for Breast Cancer and help end the words, you have cancer. ~Sheriff Dave Reynolds Real Men Wear Pink Northern NY Click Link to Donate: https://secure.acsevents.org/site/STR/RMWP/RMWPCY20NER

Congratulations to our Safety Officer, Anna Hay, for passing her EMT course!
Amidst all of the bad news we hear on a daily basis and the prospect of a long fall and winter season of limited social gathering and continued changes to our... normal routines, we wanted to share some heartwarming news out of Moriah today. This community rallied together to donate groceries and other supplies for residents of the Lee House Apartments and displaced fire victims enough to last everyone impacted more than 5 days, with more available for additional outreach. Catherine Sprague and her team at the Moriah Chamber of Commerce spearheaded this effort, with coordination from Town Supervisor Tom Scozzafava and representatives of the Essex County Health Department & Essex County Emergency Services (Krista Berger, Patty Bashaw, and Matthew Watts) assisting with the packaging and delivery of these items. It is amazing to see a caring community come together and support those in need. These are the stories that remind us how lucky we are to live in the North Country
Currently standing by at Moriah VFD while they are out at a structure fire.
A couple more from this morning.
*Everyone is safe* We were called out just before 2am for a HAZMAT situation. Thankfully the tractor was carrying food grade liquids and only leaked a bit of fuel. Southbound from exit 31-30 had to be closed for a bit for to make it easier to pull the tractor trailer out
We would like to thank W. J. Mueller & Sons Adirondack Towing & Recovery , Westport Hose Company #1 and New York State Police and DEC spill response team for the help this morning. Again, the southbound from exit 31-30 is now open.
As of 6am, the southbound lane from exit 31-30 is OPEN.
UPDATE: 6AM IT IS OPEN 3:19am: exit 31-30 southbound is CLOSED
2:51am, one lane open southbound by 105
Limited traffic at this time near 105, southbound due to a Tractor Trailer hazmat situation. Will try to update if the road will be completely closed or not. 2:11am
The Schroon Lake Fire Department drove by to show the students the trucks and wave from a distance. They also created two videos to remind the students the impo...rtance of fire safety. The videos also show the students most of the tools and trucks that are used in various situations. Thank you to the Schroon Lake Fire Department for all of your efforts in maintaining Fire Prevention Week! See more
