Yikes!! we saw a typo (shocking) and edited this post and lost the link to the post we shared. So we will repost sorry for that. It seems odd to be sharing a post from our own page but yet here we are. We posted this last year at this same time, and we thought it would be appropriate to revisit the subject. This in light of the fact that the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism has feature Goodman Mt. in a recent "Adirondack Wayfinder " celebrating Black History Mont...h. #tuppertriad https://www.adirondackwayfinder.com//black-history-in-the-

What a difference a day four months makes. Both of the photos were taken of the dogs resting in the back seat of the truck. The one on top was taken in September, Porter is resting his head on Marcy. On the bottom Marcy is using Porter for a pillow. They are both enjoying the snow and time off but are looking forward to summer and seeing all their friends. ... "Hello and Welcome to Today." Words of wisdom from the official motivational speaker of the Northwood Cabins, Rodney Norman "If you are seeing this video it means...You're still alive, and so you can still, ya know, do stuff. ..there's a lot of craziness in my life, but I can deal with it...I'm still here"... Truer words have never been spoken. Stay safe, stay sane, and we'll see you soon.

"... how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled ... Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more. A joyful and Merry Christmas in whatever form it may take this year.

Good Morning. Snow and the temps are both falling right now which certainly discourages any work getting done in Cabin 4. Maybe we'll start tomorrow. In the mean time Marcy and Porter wanted me to post a picture. Seems #Adirondog is trending and they want to get in on it. So here they are in all their glory. Taken last September. They are resting on the way home after a short hike at Paul Smith's College VIC

When worlds collide. It took the Bills longer to get back to the top of the AFC East then it did for me to finish the 46. But as with all things worth doing it makes the reward that much sweeter. Go Bills.

You always find it in the last place you look. Having heard of multiple moose sightings up in Onchiota, and the Loon Lake area we thought we would take a ride and check it out for ourselves. Low clouds obscured most of the peaks but still a nice drive with the newly fallen snow in the trees. We stopped along the way at Moody Tree Farm and picked up some Christmas presents. Unfortunalty we saw no sign of moose so we decided to head over to Ray Brook to pick up some special ...dog food at the Tractor Supply. Roosevelt has been under the weather and needed a little help with his diet. He is doing fine, thanks for asking, It was then while driving home that we had our unexpected moose encounter. It's unusual to find them standing so close to the road. But there he was ,just standing there, perfectly still giving us an opportunity for the perfect picture. The Santa hat was a nice touch. If you want to see this moose he can be found hanging around...above the fireplace at Ray Brook Brewhouse. His name is Norm, and he seems like a nice fellow. It is worth the stop for the beer and food all on it's own...the moose is a bonus.

We have much to be Thankful for this year. While this Thanksgiving Day found us apart from most of our family, we knew they were all safe and well. We had an unexpectedly good season and have been able to make up for the work we were not able to do last spring. We are also most thankful to all of our guests who made this season so much more enjoyable then we could have imagined in May and June. Your support and friendship is what made this season possible. Our guests contin...ue to surprise us in many ways. Take for example one family who stayed with us very early in the season, they had such a nice time they returned later in the summer. But on this second trip they brought us a gift. It was part of a root ball they had dug up in their yard. The roots had grown into an old "U" bolt. He said he saw it and immediately thought of us. He figured we could find a use for it and asked "Where are you going to stick it?" I looked him right in the eye and said, "I'm going to stick it where the sun don't shine." And that is what we are going to do as we made it into a lamp. We are thinking it will look great in Cabin 4 once it's all redone.

"As God as my witness I thought turkeys could fly" Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at the Northwood Cabins and WKRP in Cincinnati. Be grateful for this day, be thankful for those who are with you, and remember those who are not.

Good morning and hello December. At this time of year most people are going to bed with visions of sugar-plums" or "...a miniature sleigh and eight tiny rein-deer." dancing in their heads. We on the other hand we see a neon sign and nine tiny cabins. All of which need to be made ready for the next season. The work doesn't stop, it just takes on a new form. No beds to be made or trash to take to the dump, no breakfast to prepare or guests to check in. Now it's websites to up...date, emails to be sent, supplies to be ordered and cabins to renovate. We will begin accepting reservations on January 1st and need to have all the pieces in place by then. We have begun updating our website to reflect the most up to date information. This includes our opening date (June25th), changes to the occupancy of some cabins, as well as 2021 rates. As of now unfortunately we are planning to continue to follow Covid-19 protocols that were put into place this year. When things change we will adjust accordingly. So as you and Mamma "... settle your brains for a long winter's nap," know that it will be us out in the front yard making a" clatter" not Santa Claus. We look forward to seeing you all next year. #WeWillBeHereADK

We have not posted much recently as we have taken some time off, some planned some not so planned. First the "planned" portion of the program: We had penciled in some time to travel south to visit family after we closed. We also wanted to take the opportunity to explore some of our favorite antique shops while we we there. Saw some really great things, and picked up just what we needed. Unfortunately I was told we didn't "need" a six foot dinosaur. "needed"..."wanted" some...times it can get confusing. Now for the "unplanned" part: While we were away New York's Covid rules changed... so we are just about done with our two week quarantine. It hasn't been too bad, this forced "Vacation", it's given us a chance to catchup on some things. Right now we are in Season 5 of the Great British Baking Show. But once we are done with quarantine and Season 5 it's back to work. We will be making some changes which we will share with you as they happen. Right now in addition to Cabin 4. Cabin 10 is in our sights. The old Tamarack had to come down as it was dead. We kept the stump fairly high to serve as a kind of outdoor table. But the bigger change is that it will become a two person cabin. With it still uncertain as to how next season will play out we felt we needed to offer another cabin with a "kitchenette". So Cabin 10 will have just one Queen bed, but will also have an expanded sitting area as well as a microwave. We found the perfect cabinet for this purpose on our recent trip. We hope to have the other changes firmed up before January 1st. Not to worry while we were gone the Northwood Cabins was in the best of hands. Roosevelt was manning...er dogging the office in our absence.

This is just a "throw away" post. There were many uncertainties when the season started, some were not unexpected but others took us by surprise. The concept of "known unknowns, and unknown unknowns." The one that surprised us the most was garbage...trash...refuse. You know, the things you no longer want or need. With limited dine in options this year the volume of take out was staggering. Add to this an increase in deliveries of food to the cabins we were greeted each mo...rning with piles of pizza boxes and take out containers. Additionally, we saw noticeable increase in guests preparing food they brought from home or purchased once they arrived. So much so we purchased another microwave to be able to meet this demand. The results of this was leftovers, paper plates, cups, bowls... All of this added up to a large amount of trash, easily double what we have seen in the past. It also added up to the need to buy more garbage bags, and more trips to the Dump Transfer Station. On the plus side Tupper Lake, NY has a very nice one. It is well run, clean, and safe. The only downside to all this efficiency ..no bears.

It's just a sign of the times. It's official the season is over and the sign is all tucked in for it's "...long winter's nap." We lit it one last time before we put it to bed. It was a season that both tested and surprised us, and truth be told we were ready to call it a day. We are going to take a little bit of time to rest and heal before we dive right back in. While the start of the next season is months away we open for reservations for the 2021 season in a little ov...er two months so we have to be ready. We have some changes that we have to finalizing before then. Big "Thank You" to our sign crew . They might not be Utica Sign and Graphics but they aren't half bad. They are certainly better then the other bunch of turkeys that showed up to "help." They were useless, but we're still going to have them over for Thanksgiving.
