Dear brothers and sisters, Novo Diveevo Convent is now OPEN but with Restrictions. We Kindly ask everyone to review the current rules of conduct: Entire Convent Territory: AT ALL TIMES:... Visitors MUST maintain Social Distancing at least six feet apart ( 2 meters) Masks MUST be worn when less than 6 feet. Old People’s Home (OPH) Remains CLOSED to all visitors for any reason Please ensure the safety of our OPH residents do not approach the building, and DO NOT approach any residents that may be walking or resting outside. St. Seraphim Cathedral/Church Services Cathedral will only be open during divine services. Indoor services limited to 25% of building fire code capacity. This includes all clergy, servers, faithful. Overflow must remain outside the building. We encourage people to come to weekday services, where attendance is less. If possible we ask everyone to submit prayer requests online. Cemetery OPEN to visitors, MUST ensure a distance of at least six feet apart, unless they are members of the same household. Funeral Services and Burials will be conducted as usual. For the time being all Funeral Services will be OUTDOORS only. Panikhidas (Memorial Services) can be requested to be served outdoors at the gravesite. This is a significant holiday for Novo Diveevo because it was on this day 71 years ago that Father Adrian Rimarenko (later Archbishop Andrew of Rockland) the founder of the convent celebrated his first Divine Liturgy in the temporary convent housing in the small village of Nyack NY. This day is also significant because on this day Father Adrian began his service to God and was tonsured into the diaconate, in his hometown of Romni, Ukraine in 1921, in the Cathedral of Saint Alexander Nevsky . It was also on this day that Fathers matushka, Eugenia Grigorevna, passed on to the Lord after a brief illness in 1963. Earlier on that morning, she received Holy Communion at the hospital and shortly after the Divine Liturgy passed away. Meeting of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God / Сретение иконы Божией Матери "Владимирской" Дорогие братья и сестры! Владимирская Икона Божией Матери одна из самых почитаемых икон на Руси. Праздничные Богослужения в честь Святой Иконы проходят три раза в году: 3 июня, 6 июля и 8 сентября. По случаю праздника иконы, со дня основания монастыря Ново-Дивеево был введен обычай совершать крестный ход с чудотворным образом вокруг всей территории монастыря в самый ранний срок, ес...ли позволяет погода. В июне и июле, в связи с неблагоприятной погодой, крестный ход не состоялся. Мы надеемся совершить его во Вторник, 8 Сентября. Список этой иконы находящийся в монастырском соборе для нас особенно дорог, так как он находился в келье великих Оптинских старцев. Отец Адриан Рымаренко (позже - архиепископ Андрей), основатель монастыря Ново-Дивеево, получил ее от преподобного Нектария, последнего Оптинского старца и установил ее на почетном месте в нашем соборе. The Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God is one of the most revered icons in Russia. The icon is celebrated 3 times a year; June 3, July 6 and September 8. On the occasion of the icon's holiday, with the founding of the convent, a custom was introduced to have a procession with the miraculous icon around the entire territory of Novo-Diveevo at the earliest available date, weather permitting. In June and July, the weather was not accommodating, so the procession was postponed. We are hoping to have it on Tuesday, September 8th. Located in the convent’s cathedral is a copy of the icon that is especially dear to us, as it was in the cells of the great Optina elders. Father Adrian Rymarenko (later as - Bishop Andrew of Rockland), founder of the convent of Novo-Diveevo, received it from Elder Nektarios, the last of the Optina elders and installed it in a place of honor in the cathedral.
