Do you need a quick and easy shelter to keep community cats warm during this snowy month? All you need is a clean, empty foam shipping box that's big enough for cats, a few simple tools, and a little straw. Check restaurants, grocery store meat/seafood departments, and medical supply companies for used boxes. Instructions: http://bit.ly/FCIFoam

Today is officially Giving Tuesday and it's the FIRST and LAST day to participate in our "Hope for Shelter Pets, Help for Families" campaign! For the next 15 ho...urs only, every donation of $20 or more that you make to Bideawee to help us care for homeless animals, will trigger a five-pound donation of food from our partners at Hills Pet Nutrition through their Food, Shelter & Love Program to a NYC food pantry to help families care for their four-legged loved ones. This year has been extraordinarily hard on all of us, and as much as we need your support to help us continue to rescue and provide care for innocent animals, we recognize that there are thousands of families who need a helping hand too. That's why we're asking everyone who can to help provide care for shelter pets and relief for families with one donation. When times are tough, we believe that we need our best friends more than ever, and they need us just as much. Please donate today and help us make the holiday season a little brighter for pets and the people who love them.

"It was just a really hard decision for the [spay/neuter] clinics to make to shut down, and it certainly had an impact on the population of cats," said Kathleen O'Malley of the NYC Feral Cat Initiative, part of the animal-rescue nonprofit Bideawee. "We had more kittens born." - Gabriel Sandoval, THE CITY NY

This winter, you may notice more cats and kittens living outdoors than in previous years. Many clinics had to pause their operations after the pandemic hit, mak...ing it incredibly difficult for rescuers to continue their lifesaving work spaying and neutering community cats. This is a huge factor as to why the community cat population has exploded. On top of that, many friendly cats were sadly, abandoned when their families could no longer afford to care for them. Kathleen O'Malley from Bideawee's Feral Cat Initiative speaks about this issue as well as how Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs can be a big part of the solution. Visit https://www.thecity.nyc//spay-and-neuter-pandemic-cat-astr to read the full article. If you're interested in helping to end the cycle of suffering for community cats, please visit our website at www.bideawee.org/progams/feral-cat-initiative/ to learn more! And you're not able to get involved with TNR at this time but would still like to help, please consider adopting or fostering a shelter pet!
