This episode looks at the importance of perseverance! The lesson that you should lever quit - even whe...n the chips are down. We will look at a 2012 Freestyle Sambo match with Khari Russell, that seemed all but lost. His opponent was way up on points, and appeared to be the more technical grappler that day. Yet, Khari turned it around. This was still early in Khari's grappling career. 8 years later Khari is a seasoned grappler, Brown Belt in BJJ, with a solid Sambo foundation - and becoming a great coach himself! I miss this guy! For our 41st episode we will look at Hector Santana's MMA debut from 2017 at Madison Square Garden. He... is now 2-0 MMA, 3-0 Muay Thai (amateur). Check out episode 23 for his second MMA fight. This was his first outing in the ring. We took home a unanimous decision and a W highlighted with fantastic strike - throw - ground transitions, a hallmark of Combat Sambo. We will take a particular look at Greco style clinching and how it favors throwing, Tai Otoshi (Podnozshka) and Harai Goshi (Podvhat). We will also look at our strategy for the fight, how it played out and some other tips regarding corning fighters. I hope you enjoy.
