In today's uncertain, changing world, there have been many reminders to be kind. Today is yet another with World Vitiligo Day, a global initiative to bring awareness to vitiligo. Vitiligo affects 1-2% of the population and is an autoimmune disease that results in destruction of cells that produce pigment. It can occur in association with other autoimmune conditions and is difficult to treat. No, it won't kill you, and it doesn't hurt. But it can be emotionally and psychologically devastating, and that's enough.
