Children who participate in the New York Philharmonic’s Very Young Composers program write music expressing their hopes, dreams, and feelings about world issues. Listen Up! is a series that celebrates them and the music they create. 13-year-old Devon Lee introduces her original work Not Clouds, performed by musicians of the Philharmonic. As Devon says, When I see my music performed, when I see what used to be just a dream inside my head finally moving people, I realize how powerful I can be.

Last weekend, NY Phil Bandwagon partnered with CUNY Mexican Studies Institute to celebrate Mexican Independence Day and Hispanic Heritage Month. Philharmonic musicians and countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo, joined by guest co-host / conductor Felipe Tristan and tango bassist / arranger Pedro Giraudo Tango, performed a program ranging from Mozart and Gershwin to the Mexican folksong "Cielito Lindo" and a tango by Piazzolla. Along the way, communities across New York City experienced live music's unique ability to bring people together.
