Hammouda Soliman PT, DPT, NYPTA’s Member Spotlight for November is man of hard work and integrity. He has spent his life’s work in service to others - a principle that he learned early on from his parents. He learned at a young age that life should not be centered around oneself, but rather in service to others. After emigrating from Egypt and getting a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, Hammouda developed a passion for treating the geriatric population. Can’t wait! NYPTA’s fifth course in our monthly continuing education presentations will be held on Saturday, November 14th, 2020 at 9:00 am. This presentation, Evidence-Based Examination and Management of Neurologic Fatigue, is a three-hour session presented by Stefanie DiCarrado, PT, DPT, Evan T. Cohen, PT, MA, PhD, Herb Karpatkin, PT, DSc and Michael Zervas, PT, DPT. This course will focus on evidence-based examination and management of fatigue in individuals with neurolog...ic pathology. A brief review of the problem fatigue presents for both the patient and the physical therapist will demonstrate to the listeners the importance of fatigue recognition and intervention. Pathophysiology and prevalence of fatigue will be briefly presented for common neurologic diagnoses. The multifactorial nature of fatigue and the many ways it can be defined and recognized will be presented so participants can incorporate fatigue pattern recognition into their reasoning process. The course will present a clinical reasoning framework to organize and classify the different presentations and causes of fatigue to aide clinicians in navigating the complexities of neurologic fatigue.
