It's NYS Animal Advocacy Day! Thank you to all the animal advocates who turned out for our 9th annual event to protect pets and people! Gracie had a busy day sa...ying hello to all the visitors, advocates and their four-legged friends! I'm proud to have been the creator of this event and thankful for the efforts of all the volunteers and advocates! Special thanks to our emcee and Super Hero for our animals, the incredible Steve Caporizzo, who does so much for our animals each and every day. We have an obligation as a government to protect all members of our family, including those who have no voice. Unfortunately, there are some individuals who fail to see the value of our companion animals, resulting in animal abuse, cruelty and neglect, which occur far too often. Animal cruelty is a bridge crime on the FBI criminal profile and those who are so dastardly as to harm our pets can and often do go on to hurt people. Animal Advocacy Day matters because it’s about more than just protecting our four-legged friends, it’s about keeping people safe. Just as important as strengthening our laws, Animal Advocacy Day aims to educate the public and law enforcement about the value of our companion animals and the importance of enforcing existing laws. Animal Advocacy Day 2019 is on June 4th! Many invitations have come back return to sender. If you want a table that day, please read the invite below. Remember, tables are on a first come first serve basis! But you don't need a table in order to attend, all are welcome to come enjoy the animals and advocate for our beloved pets.

The Fed has partnered with Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal, State Senator Michael Gianaris, the ASPCA and HSUS to ban pet sales in NYS.

Police said if and when they find the person behind this crime, they will be looking at felony animal cruelty and weapons charges.
