The 19th Amendment, which ensures all women have the right to vote, was ratified on this day, August 18th, 100 years ago in 1920. Its passage is a symbol how the work that goes into preserving our democracy and ensuring all Americans’ voices are heard and represented!

After her breast cancer diagnosis, every member of Republican Senate family wears #SerinoStrong shirt in love & solidarity for Sue NYS Senate Republican Conference Leader Rob Ortt and members of the Senate Republican Conference had a big ‘SuePrise’ for Senator Sue Serino, who recently announced that she’s battling early stage breast cancer. Every member wore a special shirt emblazoned with #SerinoStrong while in Albany or virtually via Zoom to let a longtime member of the conference family know she’s loved and supported. The emotional moment brought tears to the eyes of everyone, who witnessed the strength of Senator Serino, who is going through radiation treatments five days a week and who arrived in Albany to stand up for her district.

Instead of dropping new taxes on New York’s financial engine, Albany Democrats should work with Republicans to make tough financial decisions, as we were elected to do. The high cost of living has already forced thousands of New Yorkers and hundreds of businesses out the door. Imposing new taxes during this current pandemic will crush our economic recovery, kill jobs and imperil services for our most vulnerable.
