Hello Tandon! With the semester coming to a close and finals right around the corner, #TandonOSARC wants to recognize that it is Mental Health Awareness Month! Established in 1949, this month-long acknowledgement emphasizes the importance of mental health as part of one’s overall health, and encourages people to learn more about how life experiences impact the well-being of children, families, and communities. It’s crucial that we destigmatize mental illness, asking for help,... and talking about/sharing resources that could contribute to positive mental health. . . The ways in which we take of our mental health are extremely diverse; methods that positively and/or productively contribute to your mental wellbeing might be completely different than those of another person. While we cannot replace all negative experiences or thoughts with positive ones 24/7, we can engage in activities that elevate our mental states however much or for however long we need. Struggling to think of how to boost your own mental health? Here are a few ideas: hug dogs, go on routine walks, read, exercise, draw, make your favorite meal every week, become a plant parent, speak/hang out with friends and family--and so much more! . . Submissions are now being accepted for Gallatin’s sixth annual Black History Month showcase of the arts and Black activism, SAY IT LOUD! which will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021, in a virtual setting. All forms of artistic expression are welcome. Applicants should submit work in the format which you plan to present it during the showcase, either as an audio or video submission. Please note that MP3s of audio recordings, songs, and poems should be ...no more than eight minutes in length. Please send a recording of your work to [email protected] by December 30.
