Well, most of you know that we recently hosted a ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME Salon tasting a couple weeks ago here at the new spot. In a word it was AMAZING. Thanks again to John, Cristian and Salon for such a memorable night. WITHOUT question the 1996 and 2008 led up to their reputations as all time great Champagnes. We searched high and low for bottles for this tasting and we ended up pouring 5 wines from Magnum (including the very rare 2008) but we can also tell you that finding... SALON within the United States is basically impossible. We had to call in favors left and right to make it happy - so thank you Peter, Jeff and also Salon for your generosity. We have seen urban flight and incredible fundamental change. It's a brave new world. The rest of the year promises to be equally challenging. . Leaders lead. FOOD1st was created not only to feed and support the homeless of New York City and the brave and courageous doctors, nurses and front line workers in this battle, but to employ furloughed restaurant workers. Our small business has kept five hard working family men gainfully employed thanks to FOOD1st. . Today, Monday, FOOD1st will deliver 15,000 lunches across New York City. I wrote this last night but Fernando, Arturo, Luis, Oscar, and JC arrived at 6am and prepared by hand with love and dedication 700 of the 15,000 delicious lunches going out right now. . Today is also the opening of one of the most iconic buildings in New York history. Standing tall above Grand Central Terminal, literally in the heart of Manhattan, ONE VANDERBILT, developed by SL Green Realty Corp., who also founded FOOD1st and kept the New York Vintners team employed through this difficult year, is the most modern, technologically advanced skyscraper in the world. It is the beginning of a new generation. . To celebrate FOOD1st, ONE VANDERBILT, New York City, and life in general we have IMAGINE'd a T-shirt for which we will donate ALL PROFITS back to FOOD1st to feed those today who may not feed themselves and to keep those working who might not otherwise be able. .
